Added Tank Crew and all airplane key mapping settings no longer work!!

I'm relatively new to Great Battles, 6 mos, and I just installed Tank Crew(TC).  I created a new key mappings for it, including joystick control of turret, and played a few times to learn.  Without reloading the game, I switched to airplane campaigns only to discover that all my airplane saved key mappings(P51, Spitfire, bf109, etc) no longer worked with the joystick!  So, I exited the game and restarted but the joystick still didn't work!  After struggling to understand this, I picked the key mapping for the P51 and reset each plane control, pilot head control, weapons control, etc and that got the joystick working!  Please explain, if you can, what caused this issue and do I now have to reset the key mappings for all of the other airplanes too?  Hope not!
