LF_Mark_Krieger Posted July 7, 2025 Posted July 7, 2025 (edited) It would be nice to add number 1 on the left square of the three that single engine planes like 109 or 190 have. In this way we could use the number 11. I know it wouldn't work for number 10, or 12, because in the right side we would see 01 or 21, but for the 11 would work fine. Also I think looking at historical pictures, that the numbers and some signs like the triangle are a bit too small. I don't know if making them a bit bigger would be too much work. I know you are mostly focused in the new series, but I think this is probably an easy change to do (perhaps I am wrong) that is quite important for players that apreciate historical immersion. Thank you! Edited July 8, 2025 by LF_Mark_Krieger
1CGS LukeFF Posted July 7, 2025 1CGS Posted July 7, 2025 You can use numbers like 11 and 22 right now, but ones like 12, 13, etc., don't work because of the way things are coded. It's a similar issue with the texture sizes - a compromise we just have to live with. 🙁

What I suggest is the possibility to add at least the number 1 in the square of the left, so the number 11 will appear in front of the cross (as it was historically) instead of 1 + 1, using first and second squares to put the number 11 +. 22 or 33 I think wouldn't be needed, because they didn't use numbers so high, I think. 1CGS LukeFF Posted July 8, 2025 1CGS Posted July 8, 2025 Numbers as high as 25 were used in 44-45. Additionally, just to clarify, you can code in 11 and 22 by editing the mission file in a text editor (you'll also see this at random in quick and career missions). But yes, right now there's no way to do this in-game or with the mission editor. Not sure that's going to change, either.

I didn't know I could edit the mission file in a text editor. Is this very difficult to find? Anyway, adding numbers 1 & 2 could permit us the possibility of the numbers 11 and 22 and I think this wouldn't imply a high workload for the developers? Could you ask the developers if it is easy to do? If it is not, I understand that Korea is the priority. Thank you! Edited July 10, 2025 by LF_Mark_Krieger
1CGS LukeFF Posted July 8, 2025 1CGS Posted July 8, 2025 Yes, the GUI is what is unfortunately. I wish I could give you a different answer but all effort is going into the new one for Korea. Editing the file isn't difficult. IIRC if you do a search for "code" it should get you to the right line. Alternatively, run a quick mission, and when it gives you the number 22 for your plane, back out and look at the _gen.mis file - do a search for "22" and it'll pop up. Hope that helps. 🙂 1
