The game doesn't seem to recognize my joystick throttle.  I have the Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2.  Is there a setting that I don't know about?

I have two of these and they are great joysticks.

Have you migrated to Windows 11? Once I had, both sticks were not recognised; however, I installed Windows 10 and all is fine.

Hope that works for you.

Check with Microsoft USB Game Controller.  Is it recognized in that program?  If not you have a connection issue, or the joystick is bad.  If it's recognized but not in the sim then check the number assigned to it in data/input/devices.txt and compare that to what is showing in Settings in the sim.

Recently i found problems with my TM AVA base not being recognized by IL2 only since the last windows 11 update.

It was addressed in input/devices.txt as joyID 4 instead of 2. Using JoyIDs. exe i corrected it, and all was fine.

Funny was however that DCS all worked OK.

IL2 recognizes all my controllers, a mix of WW, TM, BH, and third-party controllers. I use RSMapper (and have tested it with TARGET), and it has always worked great in-game. Now it doesn't recognize any keyboard emulation from said software. I'm able to assign a DX button press directly from all my controllers, but I'm unable to do so through software, RSMapper, or TARGET. And yes, I'm also on Windows 11. As a side note, everything works great in the other Sim.......

It seems a windows 11 latest update issue conflicting with IL2 ... but right now i don't have any issues.

I suspect to do with anti-macroing and windows security, but DCS works fine.

But TARGET gave me problems in the past. For about a year i am using a Streamdeck XL.

Love and hate it. Barraider's Supermacros seems a must use with R-alt for a streamdeck bug, and the win keys still don't work.

Have no experience with RS mapper.

If you are running Windows Defender anti-virus and firewall, go check the settings in both to make sure it's not blocking certain access' to IL2. I went in and rechecked everything I had allowed before and my Controller's software is now seen again by IL2 again. So the keyboard emulation is seen now. I haven't the foggiest idea of how the Windows update messed up my firewall settings for IL2 and never touched DCS. As we used to say in the Navy it's FM, fargin magic...

Make sure you run everything as Administrator, too.

Only just saw your answer. I have AVAST premium, and seemingly it disables windows defender.

Do you think parts of the latter can still be active, and it's not an issue with some UAC permissions?
