JD007 Posted June 21 Posted June 21 (edited) How about a DLC campaign to cover the war in Poland? From the invasion of 1939 with careers available for the Germans, the Soviets and the Polish as well as careers to cover from late 1944 - 1945 featuring the last months of the Reich. The map could feature all of Poland and extend west to include Berlin. Possible Aircraft For; The Polish Air Force: PZL P.11c, PZL P.7a, PZL.23 Karaś, PZL.37 Łoś RWD-8 / RWD-14 Czapla The Luftwaffe: Bf 109 E-1 /E-3 Ju 87 B-1 He 111 P-2 Do 17 Z-2 The Soviet Union: SB-2 The DLC could feature three maps; one for 1939 and another for 1944-45 with a winter variant. The early war would be very interesting to see in the game with the reliance on biplanes for the Poles. Edited June 21 by JD007
BlitzPig_EL Posted June 21 Posted June 21 As has been noted several times in the past, we are not likely to have any more new maps in the Great Battles Series, unless they are made by third party groups. The official developers are busy working on the new sim, "IL2 Korea" and it's successor, a Pacific sim. The upcoming Odessa and Finland maps, both made by third party teams are the last maps for the series. The addition of a Poland map, while interesting, is simply not in the cards. 1
Enceladus828 Posted June 21 Posted June 21 Adding on to what EL said, the only entirely new aircraft we can expect to see are the Finnish planes for the Karelia map so unless it’s variants of aircraft already in the game like the Bf-110F-2 and Pe-3 then I doubt we’ll see more in GBs. Really, the only maps I’d want to see in GBs are the remaining ones from RoF and Malta/Sicily.
R33GZ Posted June 21 Posted June 21 A modification to the Normandy map would be nice. We more or less have the plane-set and the map, just needs airfields upgraded, or rather, degraded to '41 ish time stamp

If it didn’t then we probably would have gotten a 1941-42 version of that map. 1

I know, but it would be less work, than say an extensive, new Odessa/lenningrad map for example... yes i am aware it has been developed privately. Also, if 'a lot of work' was a reason not to do something then there would be no up coming Korea
BlitzPig_EL Posted June 22 Posted June 22 (edited) They are not carrying on with GB not because it's a lot of work, but because it's become a dated product, the architecture of which is too limiting compared to the current state of the art. History is filled with examples of this. BLMC carrying on with the MGB to 1980, when it should have been replaced in 1970, for example. Time waits for no man, as they say. Examples for 41-42 include: Bf-110F, Spitfire Mk VC and Mk IXA, P-51A, Beaufighter VIC, and earlier Typhoons. Otherwise it's just best for one to bring the RoF Channel Map over, we got very much the planeset for that.
