This just started in the last week or so, IL-2 is freezing up then crashing with this error code. Is anyone else having this issue, I saw the thread back in 2023 with Oculus but haven't seen anything more recent with the Crystal Light. I have no idea how to fix it; it's does it randomly both in multiplayer & Career mode.

My Crystal Light arrived this morning and I've had two OpenXR failures. Once when initialising for the first time which I let go (resolved by a Radeon software update to 25.6.2, setting ÍL2 to standard and once in selecting VR via the graphics settings), started up nó problem.

2nd time I was on the early Moscow map and I got a big dirty OpenXR call failure like the one above. CtD. I've had one other glitch where I appeared underneath and outside my aircraft but a Num5 recentred me OK.

Visuals are fab, fit is uncomfortable to say the least but I've flown 3 missions, shot down 3 enemy craft and come home safely. I think I got screwed on the 80 off for the G2 offer as I ended up paying €279 including vat for their software licence.

Is there a recommended variant of opencomposite that works alongside Pimax Play or do they bundle it in themselves?

An absolute must for comfort with the Crystal headset, it actually makes it fit normal faces comfortably.

There's a ton of different versions of openvr_API.dll's floating about, you'll have to try different ones till you hit one that works.  You don't require opencomposite itself, in fact ditch it, because the Pimax is already OpenXR ready and compliant.  The game however is not, thus you need the openvr_API.dll injected into your IL-2/bin/game folder.

Thank you CPT Crunch, as always for your insight on this kind of stuff, I appreciate it. When you say dump or delete Opencomposite, what exactly are you referring too? I have the "OpenXR toolkit companion app", "Open Composite Runtime Switch", plus the "Pimax XR Control Center" & "Quadviews Companion".

Quadviews don't work in IL-2 and will cause crashes, best to get rid of all of those apps if IL-2 is your only game except maybe for the toolkit.  And even the tool kit is only partially useful any more, use only the settings under the appearance tab, but do the brightness and contrast in Pimax Play, you'll get better results.  Everything else on the toolkit can be done through Pimax Play.

Some of those apps are more than two years old and no longer relevant nor supported.
