IckyATLAS Posted June 13 Posted June 13 (edited) I reinstalled a new rig but forgot to keep my input device file. Now I am lost to again map the game axis to the Thrustmaster Warthog devices. When I delete the device file the game creates a new one. Then when I launch Target with the IL2 sim I get a message that they found a new controller Thrustmaster Combined that can be mapped to one of the devices : Warthog Throttle, Warthog Joystick or Thrustmaster Pendular Rudder. I would like to select all of them but only one is possible. And If I select one let's say the Joystick, then only the Joystick axes are active in game and Throttle and Rudder are inactive. The device file then is : configId,guid, model| 0,%2259675ec0-0637-11f0-0000545345440880%22,T-Pendular-Rudder| 2,%2259675ec0-0637-11f0-0000545345440780%22,Throttle%20-%20HOTAS%20Warthog| 1,%22d8e3a320-4133-11f0-0000545345440280%22,Thrustmaster%20Combined you see that the Joystick line disappeared and a Combined line has appeared. I do not remember how to make this work and that is to have all into one line Combined so that Target will connect all the three devices into the game. HELP! Edited June 14 by IckyATLAS
czech693 Posted June 14 Posted June 14 (edited) It's expecting the Thrustmaster Combined to have all three in one. In Target does it show a separate Warthog Joystick? (other than the Combined) Does Target give you the option to combined all into one Combined controller? I'd delete the Target settings first, then see if devices.txt has a separate Warthog joystick listed (not Combined). EDIT: It's been about 8 years since I used Target, but it's coming back to me. You don't have to delete the Target profile, just don't turn it on. Target should have listed the Warthog separate from the Combined. The Combined is a way to get around the limit on the number of controllers in a sim. I assume you are using Target to assign key settings to your controllers. It should show the un-Combined Warthog. Also, if you don't select Combined, then the devices.txt should show the un-Combined Warthog. Try running the sim without Target activated and then check the devices.txt and see if a regular Warthog joystick is listed. Edited June 14 by czech693 1
IckyATLAS Posted June 14 Author Posted June 14 It has also been so many years this is why I did not remember but I found out a way that works. So we can say it is solved. I go by that you already had a working Thrustmaster configuration file xxx.fcf. The problem lies with axis. All the buttons you configured in your existing file stay and no change on that. This is how it goes: 1- Start the sim without Target. 2- Set up all the axis in the key settings, by using joystick, throttle and rudder. 3- Start the sim Through Target and use the Thrustmaster configuration file you had already. 4- At the start of the sim you will get a window saying that the sim has found a new controller called Thrustmaser Combined and that you can map any of the "older" controllers listed below to it. But these are displayed separately for Joystick, Throttle and Rudder. 5- Choose one probably better choose Throttle or Joystick. 6- Then go to Key Settings and again setup all the axis for the three devices. 7- Then close the sim, close Target. 8- Restart Target and the sim and all will be fine. Save the device file of IL2 in the data directory of the sim.
