=AKR=Sundial Posted June 6 Posted June 6 Hello s7, Like the title says, specific I want is follows: - Single light-tank (any model is fine.) driving at full speed, fires at amassed infantries and continue their course and away. The problem I face is the ai tank has to stop when firing. Is there a way to work around? Any suggestions are welcomed.
Sketch Posted June 6 Posted June 6 You can only give them priorities and commands. You can't make the ai do specific things to accomplish those priorities or commands.

My understanding is that this is historically accurate due to insufficient stabilisation of the main guns at the time of WW2. Modern tanks are able to shoot while moving but even now it is generally less accurate than shooting while stationary. Whether the vehicle has to stop to aim or stop to reload is set in the actual vehicle definition itself. IE outside the editor completely.
Billsponge1972 Posted June 7 Posted June 7 I believe some Sherman's had a gyro-stabilizer for the main gun for the vertical only but the crews didn't use them much because they were fairly complex and hard to use. 1

I suppose the inaccuracy caused by driving will be amplified with bumpy terrain. 18 hours ago, Sketch said: You can only give them priorities and commands. Ghost666 Posted June 7 Posted June 7 Yes the standard practice was to stop before firing there were exceptions, but not many. Rommel ordered his tank to fire on the move during his dash to the English Channel.

As far as I can remember it is no problem to set the ai tank to fire while moving by a small modification. And if you decrease maybe the accuracy it could be at least a bit realistic. I think in Battle of France sometimes german tanks did this to demoralize the enemy. Sorry don't have much time currently, I think it was somewhere in the turret definitions? pziv-mobelwagenturret.txt MaxVehicleSpeedToAttack = 0.0 StopVehicleWhenPointing = true 1

But I suppose, if the multiplayer server allows mods and if each player has the same mod installed it could work.
