von_Tom Posted June 4 Posted June 4 I'm coming from a Valve Index (with plug and play useability via SteamVR) and about to order a Crystal Super. I'm fortunate enough to be running a 9950X3D with a 5090 so the power should be ok to get good results. There seems to me many different ways that people use Pimax headsets. The Pimax downloads site says that SteamVR supports the Super but I don't know how far that support goes e.g., if it covers DFR etc. Can I just plug and play using SteamVR or must I use PImax Open Play/Open XR? Alternatively, can I use Open Play to set up the Super then just leave it off and use Steam VR? Is it recommended to not use Steam VR? For those that have experimented, how have you set things up? Thanks von Tom
Broadway Posted June 4 Posted June 4 1st off, if you are just ordering , you’ll see a at least as few weeks of comments from early adopters before you get yours , I’m guessing August sometime Pimax play seems a reasonable software support including integrated openxr, and i use that and not Steam for the Crystal OG, and i assume the Super will be the same.

Does that mean you don't ever load Steam VR? I s there anything I need to do to make sure the game picks up the headset? von Tom
Broadway Posted June 5 Posted June 5 Correct, no steamvr, should pick it up if you follow the Pimax instructions on install
firdimigdi Posted June 7 Posted June 7 No SteamVR for IL2 as long as you use OpenComposite. Without it there is no OpenVR->OpenXR translation layer.
