HagarTheHorrible Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Ok, so I get it that bright lights, sunlight, reflections etcetera can bugger up my TrackIR, making it jump around like a kangaroo on crack, but I have to admit that this one had me plain stumped, what on earth was causing it this time. Its a grey, cloudy, damp Scottish evening (thank you Bertha, oh hang on, that's just normal) what was causing the issue ? The SUN of course !!!!!! Just not a Scottish sun (I'm assured it does exist) The SUN and GLARE from BoS is so bright that it's reflecting off my face or headphones, whatever, and causing my TrackIR to jump around and there was me thinking my TrackIR was crapping out (how an earth was I going to have got that past the purse monster, months of washing dishes after dinner had loomed ahead) I suspect I might just have to tone down my monitor settings a wee tad.
HagarTheHorrible Posted August 12, 2014 Author Posted August 12, 2014 Ok, scratch that silly idea, although, in fairness, it was partially responsable (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it) For some reason my TrackIR software had reverted to the plain old track clip rather than the track clip pro and it wasn't cancelling out all the extra noise. I must have inadvertantly switched it off when I was mucking around with DCS Dora.
FuriousMeow Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 (edited) I have had a large bed spread I used as a window cover cause issues with TiR. An overhead cieling fan caused it to flow in the wind and the resulting light being redirected caused all sorts of issues with TiR. it would work no problem 90% of the time too. You never know what can cause issues with TiR. Edited August 12, 2014 by FuriousMeow
VBF-12_Stick-95 Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Have you set the Light Filter Threshold slider under the Camera tab in TackIR to get rid of ambient light sources? Mine is set to 108.
Pringliano Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 That same happened to me last week. I reverted for a couple of days to the old TrackClip, and then changed to the pro, but forgot to change the settings :-( Sad it wasn't really the Sun :-( Come to Portugal man, we've plenty of that, and good food, and great girls....
SharpeXB Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Reflections from my coffee mug get my TrackIR jumping.
migmadmarine Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 TrackIR, at least in my house, doesn't like Christmas. We usually have the tree behind the chair at my computer, by the opposite wall, and I can't use the thing when the lights are on. XD
Eldur Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Never had any problems... might be because I live in an area where that strange bright yellowish thing in the sky comes out for like 24 hours in a whole year
Blooddawn1942 Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Eldur.... that sounds very familiar to me...;-)
Blooddawn1942 Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Dead on There´s a good reason for all the barrier lakes around here. Sometimes I´m waiting to get some gills due to the neverending rain.
