Cinna Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Well heck, I'd still trade my current key for a steam key just to keep my games centralized. It would be just that much more convenient. Being said, I understand why you can't just send everyone who bought early access a steam key(Or something similar to that). And yes, I know you can just set the game to launch through steam, but it's not the same.
Virus* Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Sorry for the OT, but will be possible for us founders to transfer our license key to Steam? It would be great for my big picture pc
AbortedMan Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 You can run BoS in steam since day one with the overlay and the "I'm currently playing" notification for your friends list by clicking on "add non-steam game" at the bottom left of your library screen then adding the launcher.exe to the list and renaming it "IL2: Battle of Stalingrad". The game will still update via the launcher when you start it whether it have the steam version or the 777 version, so it's literally no different. Learn to explore the applications you use everyday, people! It's not difficult.
BaiCaiX Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 I guess I know what makes you trouble. When we use the own key to activate Steam, generates a new key. So we can activate two accounts. I think it can be solved. I use the key exchange a steam activation key. You deactivate my own key. Then I use steam generated new key to activate my account again. So all's well that ends well.

We can use our keys on Steam and activate the game and with this Steam won't give another key to us and we can use our old key (Steam won't generate a new key for us). Some companies did that before (Ubisoft did that with Trackmania games I remembered). Edited August 15, 2014 by acare84
SeriousFox Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 It would be great if we can use fourder keys on Steam. Cuz I know a game that came through same problem and they somehow managed it, and now it's possible to activate Early Access products on Steam. (The name of the game is Project CARS) 2

Is easy to do and you'll get your game there with the screen you choose. Simple and easy, try it.
Deltau Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Here's just my two cents on the subject I love steam, not just as a place to buy games, but to keep them all in one place, to access at anytime, and download from anywhere with a single login. Not only that, but with friends and a social gaming network all in one place, a single profile, automatic updates and game syncing, it just makes everything soooo convenient. Downloading from site sure is fine, but I have a bunch of games that aren't through Steam, Starcraft 2, Guild Wars 2, the new upcoming Star Citizen, etc etc that when I get around to an alternate PC, or a fresh install, I have to remember everything that isn't on Steam and sometimes find myself going "Oh yea, I completely forgot I even owned that game." Guaranteed right now, I have some game out there, ready to download and play for the first time in ages, that I've completely forgotten about owning since it's not in my Steam list. Being able to just quickly install and sign into Steam and immediately be given a full list of my owned games and ability to download on the spot is a huge plus. In my opinion I think it would be doing a great service to the supporters and early-buyers of this game if the keys could be merged with Steam. We've seen it done in the past with plenty of games that have already been mentioned by others ITT, and if it could be done with this game, it would make lots of people happy (and help curb their OCD about having all games in one platform, haha ;P ). And for a final note, as a small (but at the same time possibly significant) incentive, given the sheer number of people who already have an early copy of the game, giving this many people a chance to log hours on Steam, start discussions/post content to the community hub, and make reviews/posts about the game could really promote the game itself on Steam. Just an idea c: 3
LuftManu Posted August 15, 2014 Author Posted August 15, 2014 I really like STEAM, but now they are not "mixing" CD keys also from DCS, I think this is not part of the DEVS, but from Steam, just wait, while, you can add it, copy the name from the store , and play. 1
BaiCaiX Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Meanwhile I play all my games through steam and BoS won't be an exception - but I certainly will NOT buy the game 2 times - when I bought BoS about 2 months ago I did this to support the developpers while I was sure that I can easily activate it on steam after release (or early access) and now I shall be punished for my support? - other games like War Thunder have proven that it is no problem at all to link an already existing account with the steam version of the game after it's steam release so I can't see the problem here - to handle it the "RoF-way" is a very bad idea as it resulted in not playing the game anymore for me (and not only for me) ... from steam community SeriousDan post
BaiCaiX Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 And in a couple of hours, you will be able to grab Advanced Tactics Gold on the world’s most popular digital platform. Those of you who already own the game will be able to register their key with us to get a free Steam key! Click here for the Steam product page. Already own Advanced Tactics Gold? Redeem your free Steam key here. I have just received a mail from matrixgames, and successfully activate my game. This is the news : http://www.matrixgames.com/news/1494/Advanced.Tactics.Gold.is.coming.to.Steam Their approach is, use my original key generated a steam activation key. But on the steam doesn't create a new key. Hope this can be a little reference value.
Trinkof Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 I just love how steam convert dollars to euros Almost 1$ =1€.... The premium is 85 euros on steam, on IL2 website it is 95$.... Wich is 70 euros :D So no as always : steam IS NOT a good and fair buying platform. I am glad to have bought the game directly from here ! 1

Wich is 70 euros :D So no as always : steam IS NOT a good and fair buying platform. I am glad to have bought the game directly from here ! I love it, too. But I love Steam Sales very much, too. If a fresh game release you need only wait to the Summer Sales/Christmas Sales/The Happy New Year Sales and its 25%/50%/75% down. I never bought on release or pre-order a game on steam just wait the few months and grab the game for 50% off. Dont forget the Key-Shops, Ebay or the Gift System. I get my IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad Deluxe for 65 Euros. How expensive +50% more to pay now, thats Steam. However RoF was cheaper to grab on Steam. Thats funny. Where the 50% Sales for RoF on Steam and here was. I choose the Steam Version because I saved 100 Dollars there. Steam Sales help to get new customer or the Free Weekend to play. Steam Sales help to generate money Edited August 15, 2014 by Superghostboy
Trinkof Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Yes, sales are great, and yes the "download platform " is great. I use steam a lot and do not regret it, but seriously : the way they convert dollars to euro is just outrageous, and if I had bought the game from them, I would have felt flooded and robbed. 1

Yes, if you would bought the game now from Steam you would paid around 35 Euro to much. Here it is cheaper. But there are other ways to get the game cheaper now on Steam. Example Russia or Poland. If there would someone (just ask ebay) bought the game for you and sent it to you like a gift you would save money, too. What I hate on Steam is: Just for example you are from France but you cant grab the Game from other EU-States where the game is cheaper if you want to use the Steam-Shop to get the game cheaper. 501stJFWSanya_Litvyak3 Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 (edited) Just here to say I as well would love to get a steam key after buying from here Oh and also wouldn't we have to get separate keys for the dlc planes? Edited August 15, 2014 by 501stJFWSanya_Litvyak
Pilot_Rabbit Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Its a shame that we cannot merge the key into steam platform. Come on! Steam!
LizLemon Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Very disappointed that I can't activate my key on steam. Many other games have done this, so why can't bos? Does it have something to do with them being a Russian company? Other, much smaller developers have done this so it can't be an issue of their size. Hopefully Jason hears the plight of some of his customers and does something about. Even a statement as to the real reason they can't do it would be enough.
Jason_Williams Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 We've already addressed this many times on our forum and on Steam. Why do you keep implying that we are lying? Very strange and not appreciated. Has nothing to do with nationalities.Right now no, there is no way to give you Steam keys for your existing accounts. We are considering ways to give you a Steam key, but it may impact what perks you got as Founders. Steam has any restrictions in what we can and can't do these days with keys. So we will see what if anything we will fo. Jason
Sethos Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 (edited) I hope you do. Feels like a massive punishment otherwise. Your own launcher is ungodly slow at downloading, first of all. Plus having a game seperate from your entire games library is just annoying. So being stuck with this version, just because I decided to support you early, would be unfortunate. Several developers have done exactly the game, even managed to offer DLC, perks and bonuses in the transition. Couldn't possibly see why your situation is unique. Edited August 15, 2014 by Sethos 1
Jason_Williams Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Oh stop. It's not a punishment. So dramatic you guys. Steam has apparently changed some of their policies I am told that prevent special treatment for some, but not all. Anyways, I've answered the questions about Steam keys. Jason No one is lying to anyone. Thread closed. Jason 2
