1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted June 6 Posted June 6 (edited) Hi @MDzmitry There seems to be an issue with the FC fuel tank fire — only the Camel's fuel tank can ignite. You can see it in the video: there's a double fire effect from both the engine and the fuel tank. Other observation - Camel fuel tank eruption is very mild compared to how powerful plane explosion is when the plane hits the ground. Those planes had 0.25 fuel in tanks , where probability of fire should be higher, look how long I needed to fire to actually fuel tank catch a fire. During combat it's almost impossible to shoot that long at one area. Also, the pilot disappears too quickly after death. If he dies a few thousand feet above the ground, the entire plane vanishes mid-air before it even crashes. That’s a major immersion breaker. Recorded yesterday Edited June 6 by 1PL-Husar-1Esk

A hangover from BoX being linked to FC me thinks. No crumpling, just spectacular WWII explosions with a madly spinning fuselage like the loony toons Tasmanian Devil. I don't think it's a very accurate depiction of WW1 plane crashes if I'm honest.

Sorry, but I'm currently focusing on WW2 and can't say much about WW1, it's a completely different context with varying ammunition types (less API, unlike WW2) and fuel tank constructions (less protection, in both armour and sealing)

About ammunition during WW1 (middle to end) incendiary rounds were very common. Yes, fuel tanks were not protect or self sealing. Hazard of fires were significant during WW1. 2 hours ago, ST_Catchov said: A hangover from BoX being linked to FC me thinks. Yes, but WW2 airplanes after exposition disappear in a crater , not WW1 planes.
