So I bought the WW Orion 2 base and F-16 grip awhile back.

I just bought the majority of the GB franchise thinking my very expensive Orion 2 would work easily in IL-2.

RS Mapper and SimAppPro are pretty useless so far. Keybinds just keep resetting and acting whack.

Is there no way to map an Orion 2 to IL-2 and have it do what you want it to? Or did I just waste a lot of money on a terrible set of simulators?

Why not just map the keys using the in-game bindings system?

Other people have got it working, so it is possible.

You provide very little information that can be used to figure out the issue. I suspect that you have too many devices. IL-2 support up to 8 controllers with 128 inputs each. Have you set up a lot of virtual devices? Because you can go over the limit very quickly that way.

Note that IL-2 keeps track of the devices in "devices.txt" in IL2 / data/ input. So if you make changes to the virtual devices, you may have to delete that file to reset the devices that IL-2 knows about.

If you have any button zones on an axis IL-2 can't see that axis, it will always choose the button to bind.  Either turn off the buttons in the sticks software, or manually add the axis in IL-2's files.

I do not know what RS Mapper and SimAppPro are, so this is directed at binding keys within the game's keybinding system. If the binding reset after restarting the game, chances are that you installed the game in a folder for which you do not have write permission in Windows. Check there first. If you do have write permission in the folders, then the problem could be per @Aapje above--too many devices. Try disabling devices you do not need for IL2 before starting the game.

If neither of those are the problems, we will have to start from the very basics, so let us know.

PS. if you spent money on the WW equipment, then you surely know that IL2 is very, very cheap compared to most high end flight sims. Many people use the WW stick/hotas, so getting it running should be pretty simple.
