Can't assign throttle axis

Throttle in question is Virpil t50cm3 works perfectly in DCS, Elite dangerous etc etc
Joystick axis all work (assigned to pitch and roll)
Rudder axis all work (assigned to yaw and wheel brakes)
Throttle axis is just straight up ignored by the game, can't assign it in the keybinds menu

I've tried manually editing the config file to assign joy1_axis_x, game ignores it, tried joy1_axis_rx, game ignores it

Throttle buttons are all assignable and work but only the ministick x and y are assignable, however whatever they're assigned to immediately jumps to 100% and stays there the instant any input is made on those axis 

Any ideas? I'm about to give up altogether at this point since I can't even do a basic thing of controlling my engines. I've zipped and uploaded the custom config I'm trying to use and the devices file just in case

Fixed it, editing the actions file to point to axis_s for right throttle lever and axis_w for left has solved the problem
