So, I have tried the campaign and seems really neat. However I have some doubts about it.

First, it seems I cannot increase the simulation speed, only decrease it. While the interface claims the simulation is running at 8x speed, it is in fact running at 1x. Is there any workaround for this?

Second, after finishing my first mission what am I supposed to do? I kept the PWCG open while I performed the mission but no debrief at all happened when checking the program. What did I miss to make it work? And as I am asking questions, here is a final one: Can I finish the mission in the air over my airfield and PWCG considers it a success and provide a debrief?

Thank you for all the help and patience!

The in mission time compression is the game, not PWCG.  It basically can only go as fast as the game and your system allow.  I have a new, very good system and I can't come close to 8x.  As far as PWCG goes, the best thing that you can do is use configs to limit what is included in a mission.

After a mission

1. Go to your campaign in PWCG

2. Press mission.

3. press Combat Report

4. Enter your claims.  Only claimed aerial victories will be awarded.  It doesn't have to be exact in terms of type, but you should not claim a balloon if you shot down a fighter.  Ground kills do not have to be claimed.

5. Continue the work flow to the end.  At the end of the AAR process things will happen in the world and a new day will dawn.   You can then start another mission.

Rinse wash repeat until the war is over

Thank you for your detailed explanation and mostly for your dedication etched in this detailed program.

I have a very good system too (i9 13900H, Nvidia 4070, 32Gb RAM), GPU is used at 60% at most with Max detail, CPU hoover at 10% and can't go faster than normal time.

If I remember correctly, enabling mission recording disables time compression. Is that the cause?

Not for me.  Time compression works, but it only achieves 8x on a pretty much empty map.  My finger in the wind estimate is 3x at best on a mission.

I have a 12400 plus 4070 and I get a noticeable increase in speed up to 8x, unless the map is very busy. But when things are busy, I play at 1 speed anyway.

Mission recording does disable or greatly reduce it in my experience.

Ok, thank you all for your help. I generated a very busy mission, yes. That is certainly the culprit!
