1CGS LukeFF Posted May 6 1CGS Posted May 6 To commemorate 80 years since the Allied victory in Europe in World War II we at 1C Game Studios would like to give you a gift worthy of this date - not a picture, not a postcard, not even an airplane - but a whole game dedicated to one of the hardest-fought battles of this war, the heroic defense of the capital of the USSR and the subsequent counter-offensive of the Red Army. In honor of the anniversary, all IL-2 Great Battles modules are available at 80% OFF from May 6 to May 20 on our website and on Steam. Full announcement is here: https://il2sturmovik.com/news/881/80th-anniversary-victory-europe-day-giveaway/ 18 3 3
David_4555 Posted May 6 Posted May 6 Thank you to the team for this amazing gift and amazing discounts. And since VE day is around the corner, thank you to all the heroes who gave us our freedom! 1

R7-S276 Posted May 7 Posted May 7 What 1C Games Studio give to the customer who bought all the games and DLC full price from the beginning of the series to thank them for their support and fidelity ? 🤔 1

Battle of Moscow is a 9 year old module, so you got 9 years of value out of that module compared to those who just get it now, for free. It's normal in gaming that the discounts gradually go up, so if you wait, you pay less. And sometimes, you get a freebie. This way the game is accessible to more people overall, but the games studio still has a lot of people paying a higher price, because they don't want to wait a long time for the (bigger) discounts. The studio couldn't survive if everyone bought the game for a 80% discount or got it for free. From the perspective of the game studio, they also hope that this will draw new players in, who will then buy the newer modules for a higher price. So just look at the freebie they giveaway now as marketing, that will help bring more people to pay full price for Korea, so 1CGS can then afford to make more modules for all of us. 7

AlexandreCosta Posted May 7 Posted May 7 Just bought every campaign available. Now I have everything except the collectors vehicles. Thanks for the sale. 1

Yes this is a great way to gain new players, people can get a free module and if they like it's content then this is also a great time to pick up another since they are on sale at a eye weater'ing 80% off, which I'll using to get myself into the WW1 section.

Aapje Posted May 7 Posted May 7 It does show it once you add it to the cart. Anyway, the store seems to be down now, due to high popularity of the free module.
ST_Catchov Posted May 7 Posted May 7 (edited) I bought all four FC editions at full price because of my generous and benevolent nature. The welfare of 1C is my top priority. And I have gained a lot of respect within the community for my unselfish and philanthropic tendencies. Of course, that means nothing to a self-effacing person such as moi. It's damn embarrassing to be honest, Just doing the right thing is its own reward. Edited May 7 by ST_Catchov 1 3
AEthelraedUnraed Posted May 7 Posted May 7 Great prize, for those who haven't already got BoM. For some reason it seems to be less popular than the other modules, but I can honestly say it's one of my favourites. It's a beautiful map, well made, with interesting aircraft for both sides (and there are more early-war planes coming!). I don't want to speculate, but in the gaming world, huge discounts like these often come just before some big announcement and/or new game. Korea Early Access in 2 weeks? 1 1
Aapje Posted May 7 Posted May 7 Hard to say. VE day is very significant in Russia as well, with their parade that is in the news in ways that we can't discuss here. So it may just be that. The start/end of the Korean war was in June & July, so that might be a good time period for a release.
-=UFG=-DarthBelan Posted May 7 Posted May 7 (edited) Thank you for the gracious gift of the BoM DLC. Quick question, how do I get this DLC to show as purchased in Steam? Reason I ask is I would like to purchase the Deluxe bundle in Steam, but without it showing as purchased in Steam I would have to buy BoM along with it, defeating the purpose of getting it free. Or, better yet, give BoM a 100% discount on Steam for 48 hrs. Edited May 8 by -=UFG=-DarthBelan

If your accounts or linked, you can only have one license for each product -- it is either Steam or the web store. The web store content will show in your steam version, but your Steam content won't appear in your webstore version. (I began with Stalingrad on Steam, and all of the content I've purchased here including Moscow appears in my Steam version.) The Deluxe version of Battle of Moscow only adds two additional aircraft, and you can buy those individually as Collector Planes either here or on Steam.
Skycat1969 Posted May 8 Posted May 8 Upon re-reading I think I understand now that you want to buy this: https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/18285/IL2_Sturmovik_Battle_of_Moscow_Deluxe/ Buy Stalingrad (if you don't have it already) on Steam, either by itself or in the Deluxe bundle. Link your Steam account to il2sturmovik.com, and you should see Battle of Moscow credited to your Steam install. The guide how to link accounts is here: https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/76846-il-2-sturmovik-great-battles-manuals-ver-4702c/ The remaining three items in the Moscow Deluxe bundle can be purchased for a total of $10. Your free version of Moscow pretty much equals the advertised savings by purchasing the entire Moscow Deluxe bundle that Battle of Moscow and Battle of Stalingrad. I think you'll still actually come out ahead by linking your accounts. 1
schutzen Posted May 8 Posted May 8 Thanks for this generous gift 1C Game Studios. On this special commemoration I wish all victorious peoples many kind regards and thanks for your peoples sacrifices. @Skycat1969 thank you for your posts here, they also helped me. 1
Dano Posted May 8 Posted May 8 Just to confirm, If somebody doesn't have Battle of Stalingrad on Steam and wishes to grab the offer they can either purchase Stalingrad and add the Moscow offer via steam, or alternatively create a direct account here and simply grab the free Moscow offer without needing Stalingrad correct?

Not sure BoM is available on Steam, but option 2 is possible. Outside of Steam BoS is not necessary, so having just BoM will be enough to start playing. 1
Skycat1969 Posted May 8 Posted May 8 Steam considers Battle of Stalingrad to be the main sim, and everything else as subordinate DLC. Stalingrad (Steam version) is mandatory to play via Steam. The website store here considers Battle of Moscow, Stalingrad, Kuban, Normandy, Bodenplatte, Tank Crew, and Flying Circus volumes as independent stand-alone titles. You can buy any of the modules as your first or only game. This is the best option for somebody who is primarily interested in World War One, or armored vehicles, or the P-51 Mustang as examples. Any other titles you buy (like Moscow) from the webstore later will be usable from the same launcher as a 'merged' game. Or you can start with Moscow as your first title. 1
=OT=Rollie Posted May 8 Posted May 8 The hell with Steam. Get the games direct from IL-2 website so steam don't get a cut.
SARFlytitus Posted May 8 Posted May 8 Ok ! just completed the line up with Lisunov Li2 and last two collector vehicles : the Churchill and the Stug IV 1
peterk1 Posted May 8 Posted May 8 I'm a late comer to IL-2 and purchased Battle Of Moscow, Battle Of Stalingrad last year and have been playing the career mode a lot for almost 12 months. It took a few tries but I finally have a pilot who is very, very close to finishing the Battle Of Moscow with a full green bar with very little "cheating" at the realistic progression setting. Things are moving almost at real time. One thing that IL-2 does really well, because the career progresses so slowly, is make clear what an absolute grind this war was and how absolutely stressful it must have been for the pilots. I absolutely have found myself relieved to be in hospital for a few days with a minor injury and praying for some bad weather, just so that I could get a few days off every now and then. Anything to make the odds of survival a tiny bit better. The start of a mission and taking off is always so exciting, but you always wonder if this is the day that your luck runs out and you are being sent into something that cannot be survived. You get good at judging the mission briefing and map and figuring out what's easy and where you need to be careful, but in the end there is just so much luck and good/bad timing. Just want to leave an 8th of May salute to all of the pilots who flew in the war. 1 1

When you make a purchase through the Il2 website, it does appear in the game, but does not show as purchased through Steam. What the Devs should have done was made BoM 100% off in Steam for these 48 hrs as well, then I could have turned around and "Complete My Collection" and bought the Deluxe version through Steam for $6 and some change. 3 hours ago, =OT=Rollie said: The hell with Steam. But the Battle of Moscow career is available when you launch the game on Steam, and you can fly the BoM aircraft? You're focusing on the cosmetic verification owned DLC in your library. About 3/4 of all my content was purchased from the webstore, so I know very well what you are referring to. I'd rather have all my content available in Steam but have to keep track of where I sourced it, than to have only 3/4 of my purchases available via the web launcher because it doesn't recognize Steam licenses. In a perfect world we'd have 100% cross-talk between the two platforms, but I assume Valve's business model is the roadblock here.

In the Netherlands, we've got a proverb: ge mot 'ne gegeven perd nie in d'n bakkes kijken. "You shouldn't inspect the mouth of a gifted horse" (to estimate its age and thereby worth by how worn its teeth are). You get a free game. Take it or leave it. Steam gets a large percentage of all sales, so I think it's very fair that they try to draw people towards the web store by actions like these. If you prefer to buy all your games through Steam, that's fair. It's your choice. However, there's really no case for complaining it isn't free in that case if it is free on the web store. 1 1
deathmisser Posted May 8 Posted May 8 42 minutes ago, AEthelraedUnraed said: If you prefer to buy all your games through Steam, that's fair. It's your choice. I use steam for most of my games because it's easier and quicker imho, it's also more comfortable to use too. Plus it's will have everything there already just need you to install it if you move to a different PC which I did around Christmas time as my GPU was giving up the ghost.
Aapje Posted May 8 Posted May 8 If you get the standalone game, you can just copy the game directory to the new PC. Other than faster downloads, I don't see much benefit to the Steam version.

Updating probably is in Steams favour but it is horses for courses. Happy End of War Day. 👍 1
w00dy Posted May 9 Posted May 9 Well I have everything now, I was only missing the latest Flying Circus, thanks for the sale 😊 Like others I bought the first game on Steam, then everything else through the online store. For me Steam is great for keeping my game up to date. I have limited gaming time and hate wasting time waiting for updates.
