No601Jab Posted April 30 Posted April 30 Can't get the Rhino pitch or roll started/seen or recognised in IL-2 🙄, (the VKB buttons work fine). Fine in VPForce FFB Configurator - when I move the joystick it moves in the Configurator. In TelemFFB the Monitor tab says IL2 is Enabled & Waiting for data. Which may suggest the issue is in the startup.cfg (I’m guessing a bit). Currently the startup.cfg has:- [KEY = motiondevice] addr = "127.0.0.1" addr1 = "127.255.255.255:34385" decimation = 1 enable = true port = 4321 [KEY = telemetrydevice] addr = "127.0.0.1" addr1 = "127.255.255.255:34385" decimation = 1 enable = true port = 4322 Page 160 of the User Manual is as follows:- Is this guiding me to make the startup.cfg extracts read as follows? [KEY = motiondevice] addr = "127.0.0.1" addr1 = "127.255.255.255:34385" decimation = 1 enable = true port = 34385 [KEY = telemetrydevice] addr = "127.0.0.1" addr1 = "127.255.255.255:34385" decimation = 1 enable = true port = 34385 If anyone has read this far, thank you and I’m grateful for any feedback. Kind regards, James
Number481 Posted April 30 Posted April 30 (edited) This will have nothing to do with the telemetry setup, which is only for exporting data. %90 chance you have too many peripheral devices and your joystick is not being read by the sim. See here: ** Edit ** - Just to clarify, you need to bind your controls in the game as it has its own native FFB implementation. TelemFFB only adds additional effects for IL-2, it does not provide the "FFB" (in a traditional sense). Edited April 30 by Number481 1
No601Jab Posted May 1 Author Posted May 1 Thanks for the heads up on this. The devices.txt file shows I have 7 devices:- configId,guid, model| 0,%22662755e0-bd3e-11ee-0000545345440180%22,Logitech%20Flight%20Quadrant| 1,%226bd2c060-bd3e-11ee-0000545345440280%22,Logitech%20Flight%20Quadrant| 2,%221fd46f80-b7ba-11ee-0000545345440180%22,S-TECS%20MODERN%20THROTTLE%20STANDARD| 3,%222f2d3980-54b9-11ee-0000545345440380%22,MFG%20Crosswind%20V1| 4,%22679c82f0-5020-11ee-0000545345440280%22,VKB-Sim%20Gunfighter%20Modern%20Combat%20PRO| 5,%22218b6c80-b7f5-11ee-0000545345440180%22,CH%20THROTTLE%20QUADRANT| 6,%22303e0b50-17b4-11f0-0000545345440180%22,VPforce%20Rhino%20FFB%20Joystick So, I'll remove the CH Throttle Quadrant (as I no longer use it) and then try Charon's suggestions. Hopefully IL-2 will then see the joystick and I'll be able to bind it in the game. Thank you, Kind regards, Jab.
No601Jab Posted May 1 Author Posted May 1 Well I removed the CH Throttle Quadrant line and am now down to 6 devices. 0,%22662755e0-bd3e-11ee-0000545345440180%22,Logitech%20Flight%20Quadrant| 1,%226bd2c060-bd3e-11ee-0000545345440280%22,Logitech%20Flight%20Quadrant| 2,%221fd46f80-b7ba-11ee-0000545345440180%22,S-TECS%20MODERN%20THROTTLE%20STANDARD| 3,%222f2d3980-54b9-11ee-0000545345440380%22,MFG%20Crosswind%20V1| 4,%22679c82f0-5020-11ee-0000545345440280%22,VKB-Sim%20Gunfighter%20Modern%20Combat%20PRO| 5,%22303e0b50-17b4-11f0-0000545345440180%22,VPforce%20Rhino%20FFB%20Joystick But the problem remains, I can move the joystick in VPForce FFB Configurator: But the game IL-2 does not see the joystick, when trying to set pitch/roll in Settings/Controls, nothing registers, IL-2 is waiting for data. What should I be doing so IL-2 gets this data? Thanks very much again for your kind attention. Jab.
Varibraun Posted May 1 Posted May 1 (edited) @No601Jab - I have this problem occasionally when switching or adding a new device (most recently adding a Rhino motor to my TPR pedals). For me this process has always worked: -Rename your devices.txt file (for backup and reference) effectively deleting it -Restart IL2 and it will create a brand new devices.txt file -Check to see if your "new" device will now map in keybinds -Assuming yes, then instead of remapping all of your devices with their "new" numbers in IL2 - edit the new devices.txt file to change the #s matching your old one that you renamed for reference. *Also, be sure you have your Input Devices Menu Setting in IL-2 set up as referenced in the Rhino TelemFFB portion of the manual (but based on my experience, I don't think that is problem). -I hope that works for you too...good luck! No601Jab Posted May 1 Author Posted May 1 (edited) Thanks Varibraun 🫡, I'll let you know how it goes. Edited May 1 by No601Jab
No601Jab Posted May 3 Author Posted May 3 Thank you Varibraun (& 481), that did the trick👍 🫡. Needs a bit of tuning - joystick always wants to climb, but it's basically there 🙂. Jab. 1
Varibraun Posted May 3 Posted May 3 44 minutes ago, No601Jab said: Needs a bit of tuning - joystick always wants to climb, You are probably already aware that climbing without stick input is a flight model feature of some a/c, especially WWI. But, it shouldn't be the joystick if it is centered in in the VPForce configurator and on the IL2 mapping graph. Also, there is a general school of thought that applying in game curves and the Rhino FFB don't play well together. So, I just keep forward stick pressure on the WWI a/c and trim out the WWII ones (which with the FFB, adds that feeling of the Rhino moving with the trim).
No601Jab Posted May 4 Author Posted May 4 Not quite sure what's causing it, but if the flight starts in mid air the stick stays in the centre and the aircraft stays level. Once I take hold of the stick, it wants to move right back and the aircraft wants to rise up into a loop, though I can use definite force to hold the stick in the centre and the plane level. This is irrespective of whether I use Adaptive Recentering or not.

No601Jab Posted May 4 Author Posted May 4 In Controls:Input responses:Plane Control Pitch if I move the joystick back the needle reads pitch up, and joystick forward moves the needle to pitch down. If the aircraft is stationary on the ground, it's the same - joystick back the elevator pitches up, joystick forward moves the elevator to pitch down. At altitude/speed once I take hold of the stick the force feedback comes into play and pushes/moves the joystick back and the aircraft climbs unless I use definite force to maintain level altitude.

In the vpconfig I think you have to reverse the pitch axes and then in the il2 setting you remap the pitch again..The vpforce rhino program wants to apply an opposite force to the force you put in order to act like a virtual spring but since you have reversed the pitch axes in vpforce config then stick goes at the edge of the Rhino base instead of going to the center... No601Jab Posted May 5 Author Posted May 5 dgiatr thank you for taking the trouble to explain this to me, I am grateful 🫡. 1
