Adolf Fegelein's First Day in Kuban (III/Jagdgeschwader52)

April 1943. After the destruction of the 6.Armee in Stalingrad. Oberkommando ordered Heersgruppe Anton (A) to evacuate the Caucasus. Hitler however insisted on maintaining a bridgehead in the Kuban (Taman Peninsula), in hopes of any possible future offensives against the Caucasus oil production facilities. The Wehrmacht 17.Armee, 250,000 strong is tasked in maintaining the Kuban Bridgehead. 1.Fliegerkorps of Luftflotte 4 is to provide assistance to the 17.Armee .

   Oberleutnant Adolf Fegelein a veteran of the Stalingrad Campaign and one of the few men who was in the Platzschutzstaffel at the Pitomnik in the Stalingrad Cauldron, opts to returns to the Eastern Front, despite being offered a spot as an instructor at Jagdgeschwader 103, a training unit in Bavaria. However he is no longer in the JG3 "Udet". He is assigned to III/JG52.

Adolf Fegelein made his debut in the Stalingrad Front. So far he has 77 missions under his belt and 60 kills.
