Dutch2 Posted April 13 Posted April 13 (edited) Not saying the rest of the skinners & 1C were not capable, but for VR use @Tom Weiss skins were a level higher than from all the others ( speaking of 5yr ago). While all of the skinners&1C are doing a perfect job for monitor use and for AI planes, his secret was that he did give the planes outside surfaces, like the wings, more 3D depth. After my absence of 5 years would like to know if there is any new breed of skinners that is using the Tom Weiss specific method of skinning or do it’s job even better for the VR use. And I’m not alone as a fan of Tom Weiss craftsmanship as can be read here below. So reading my topic, which skinner can you advise for my VR users. Edited April 14 by Dutch2

Pilot Info: Ivan Ilyich Babak, a Ukranian Hero ! - Born July 26, 1919 in the village of Alekseevka (now Nikopol district of the Dnipropetrovsk region of Ukraine). Graduated from the Zaporozhye Pedagogical institute and flying club. He worked as a teacher of chemistry and biology in high school. From 6 October 1940 in the Red Army, drafted by the Primorsky RVC (Zaporozhye region Ukraine). In 1942 he graduated from the Stalingrad Military Aviation Pilot School. Since May 31, 1942, Sergeant I. I. Babak on the fronts of the Great Patriotic war as part of the 45th Fighter Aviation Regiment (in June 1943 it was reorganized in the 100th Guards IAP). He flew first on the Yak-1, and from the spring of 1943 on the American Airacobra. By October 25, 1943, the commander of the 100th Guards Fighter aviation regiment (9th Guards Fighter Aviation Division, 8th Air Army, Southern Front) Guards Junior Lieutenant I. I. Babak completed 242 combat departure, conducted 83 air battles, in which he shot down 18 enemy aircraft personally and 5 - as part of a pair. Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of November 1, 1943 awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and a medal "Gold Star" (No. 1132). On March 13, 1945, Captain Babak was appointed commander of the Guards. 16th Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment, but literally in 3 day, March 16, he was shot down by enemy anti-aircraft artillery fire, escaped to parachute and was captured, from where he was released after the Victory. Completed 330 in total sorties, conducted 103 air battles, personally shot down 35 and as part of a pair of 5 enemy aircraft. After the war, he continued to serve in the Air Force of the country. In 1947 he graduated Higher officer tactical flight courses. On February 10, 1949, Guards Captain I. I. Babak - in reserve, then retired. Worked as a teacher and lived in the city of Poltava (Ukraine). Died June 24, 2001. Awarded with orders: Lenin (01.11.1943), Red Banner (04/22/1943, 09/25/1944), Patriotic War 1st degree (03/11/1985), Red Stars (03/28/1943); medals. 2
