BaglanBoy Posted April 13 Posted April 13 Hi All, Is it possible to turn off the radio information that is printed on screen during flight, sometime there is so much that I cant see out the front cockpit. Cheers
Volant_Eagle Posted April 15 Posted April 15 Yes there is! Cliffs has one of the most customizable text/HUD systems of any flight sim I've used. One option is to use the keybind for "Toggle All Windows". This will hide ALL text on the screen during simulation. Pressing it again will obviously bring it all back. I don't think this is what you're looking for though. But it's nice to know sometimes. The keybind is found under catagory: Chat What I think you are looking for is the ability to customize the text boxes. It's fairly easy to customize the boxes, but definitely far from obvious how to do it. First, you need to understand that everything presented as a text overlay in the game, is always in a text box that is referred to as a "info window". These boxes are usually invisible until you right click on them. If you right click where there isn't an info window, you get this drop-menu where you can either create a new info window, or select one of the existing windows: If you right click where there is an info window, it becomes "activated" and you can interact with it. If this was a box that you could chat through, you would now be able to type a message in the box and send it by pressing enter. (It's usually easier to select that box for this purpose by using the keybind "Send Message" [which is a stupid name for that keybind, since that is not what it does. Sending the message is what pressing enter does. The keybind just lets you start typing the message.]). If you right click on an already activated box (right click it twice), you get the option to customize that box. Example: Once in the customization window, you have a ton of options for any given box. Example: In the examples I'm picturing, I've selected the particular window that I've set up to display only the radio communications (the item "voice"). If "Window" is highlighted in grey (as pictured above), then the fields to the left will allow you to change the features of the box itself. If you click a particular item in the "items" column, the field on the left will now let you change how that particular item is displayed when that item appears in that window (example below). All of the text in my examples are the smallest option (Fixed Small). I personally would still prefer a slightly smaller option, but I'm kind of easily distracted by text and don't like relying on it (and I'm near-sighted). When a window is activated, you can move it around and change its size just like you would with any window in Microsoft Windows. However, there is one not very obvious catch; you can only change the width and height if that window's border is set to "visible', and you can only move a window when that window's title is set to "visible". You could delete the window displaying the radio communication, but I would advise against that. If you are ever playing without all the map "cheats" on, then requesting vectors to targets using the tab menu might be your only way of finding anything other than by luck (Usually this is Tab 7 - 1). The reply to this request will be given over the radio, so unless you can actually hear what they're saying you are going to want the info window. (This does not apply when flying the TWC server. Tab 4 - 1 makes the request, and the reply comes as only text through the window with "server", not the window with "voice"). Another thing to keep in mind is that there's no way to save and reload a particular window configuration once you have everything where you want it. So DO NOT select "default" unless you want to start all over from scratch again. 2 2
BaglanBoy Posted April 16 Author Posted April 16 Again thank you, one thing that i have always said is that being part of this simulation fraternity there are always people like yourself that give a helping hand to us novices Cheers 1
