ITAF_Greycap161 Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Good morning everyone I have the Pimax Crystal Light + 4080 Super but I don't see the long distance spots that my friends with older VR and video cards see. I don't know what to do anymore and it's very frustrating. Can someone tell me what I need to load (Open VR,,,,,), NVIDIA setting, IL2 setting and Pimax Crystal Light setting, please? Otherwise I'll throw it all away,,,,,,,,, thanks Greycap
=MERCS=JenkemJunkie Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Higher resolutions will decrease spotting ability, so lowering your resolution to theirs should work if you're running the crystal at high resolutions. I know that kind of defeats the point of having a crystal, but unfortunately that's how spotting works. I don't know if having hardware with a larger pixel density vs your friends headsets will also impact spotting at equal resolutions set in the software though.
spreckair Posted April 14 Posted April 14 This is interesting to see. I switched from a HP Reverb G2 to the Crystal Light and my spotting has not changed. I still cannot ID the spotted aircraft in VR that well, but I can spot bogeys just as well.

I changed from Hp G2 to Quest 3 and added a little more resolution ( from 2700 to 3000) with better idying and not worse spotting results... Edited April 14 by dgiatr
=MERCS=JenkemJunkie Posted April 14 Posted April 14 You should notice a decrease in spotting ability with larger increases in resolution. When I tried tweaking on my Q3 I could make planes invisible somewhere around 5-7km+ by setting the resolution too high. I didn't even think it was possible to get spotting that bad.

CAG_Sanders Posted April 14 Posted April 14 It all has to do with how games render far planes, normally just a pixel or few. Obviously if you have a super high resolution headset your pixels are tiny so less likely to see a small black single pixel. Also it is known that zooming doesn't help spotting.
