Is it possible to have in cockpit visual data with a lower left bar showing data such as speed, altitude and heading as in IL-2 Forgotten battles.

In the past while flying FB I have found this aid so helpful especially speed checks on take offs and landings.

Cheers

Unfortunately no. I've been playing this game for years and just recently found out this isn't possible. I was very surprised myself to find out only recently that such a simple feature (which was in the original Il-2 that this game's engine has direct lineage to), isn't in this game.

I definitely understand what you mean about the speed checks. A real pilot in a real cockpit would have no trouble at all glancing at the airspeed indicator while still being aware of where he's going. This is something a flight sim player can only do in VR. And needless to say, VR still isn't even an option in this sim...yet. Do you use head tracking (like trackIR)? This doesn't fully solve the issue, but it helps a ton. It's not too difficult to glance down at the indicator and then back up again. Plus it's a massive leap forward in situational awareness overall.

Granted, once you get right down to the flare, you really need to be focused out the windscreen. Even with trackIR, in 2D you still have to pick between the instrument panel or the windscreen. It's for this reason that I would actual consider a HUD "speed bar" to be an increase in realism, not a decrease (at least for single screen 2D). If it displayed things like True Airspeed or Groundspeed, then I could see how that could be considered "cheating". But if it just simply displayed Indicated airspeed, indicated altitude, and magnetic heading (like in Il-2 1946), then I have a real hard time seeing how someone could "cheat" with that.

If you want something somewhat like a "speed bar", it is possible to program a mission to display certain parameters on screen using the mission editor's "script" feature. This is a very technical feat to accomplish however, and it will only work in that specific mission that you script. So it really won't work for the purpose you are intending at all. It is still useful for other purposes though, like testing aircraft performance. There are some missions that others on this forum have created that you can download and use.

I asked about this exact feature a couple months ago in the "technical assistance" section of this forum. The thread is called "viewing performance data". A couple people posted some of these scripted missions for download near the end of the first page. I'd link to them here, but it's really hard to do when I don't have a clue how to do that.

Thank you friend for that interesting information, yes I have been using TrackIR for some time which is another aid I could just not do without. I must say that CoD does have its merits but BoS is still my preferred combat simulation.
