Sgtslick952 Posted March 30 Posted March 30 Just started playing IL2 using OpenXR Toolkit and Open Composite after playing it using Steam VR the last 3 months. The visual quality is much improved! The one issue I have is after donning my Quest 3, my steps are as follows: I launch the Occulus Debug Diagnostic tool and disable Asynchronous Spacewarp (that got rid of the "stuttering" I experienced the first coupla times I got into the game and finally figured out what was going on with that). I then select "desktop" from the curved console I see at the bottom of my headset view screen. I launch IL2 from the shortcut on my Windows 10 desktop and the game launches. But it launches in what I call the "Imax" screen effect and not in VR. I have to go into settings, graphics, and check the VR HMD box) then restart the game. Then it launches in actual VR mode. As slow as this game loads it would be nice to eliminate this initial launch. So my question is there a setting I need to configure somewhere where it will automatically launch in VR the very first time I launch it? One other minor issue is I noticed a slight "double vision" effect with objects in the game and I literally had to pause the game with a plane in front of me and the diall the IPD adjustment wheel on the underside of the Quest 3 to "focus" it into a single image. I never had that issue with playing it with Steam VR. Again is there some setting I need to alter somewhere. And are these issues somehow due to OpenXR Toolkit? Thanks in advance with any help that be can be given.

The visual quality is much improved What was the settings you were using previously with SteamVR? How much %SS? IMHO, you can have a visual quality with SteamVR as good as with OpenComposite /OpenXR Toolkit. It is just a question of the %SS you apply to SteamVR. 10 hours ago, Sgtslick952 said: I launch IL2 from the shortcut on my Windows 10 desktop and the game launches. Sgtslick952 Posted April 6 Author Posted April 6 I’d have to go back and see how much SS I had originally set for Steam VR. And Thanks for the launch tip too, Chiliwili 👍
