issue mapping throttle to axis

I am just coming back to IL-2 after a 6 month break and am trying to setup my new throttle.
VKB STECS Standard.
I am clipping along until I get to throttle. Every time I try to setup the throttle it puts it in as two separate button pushes.

I think I understand the problem but not how to fix it. The way the stecs sets up detents is you setup the detent bar then assign button numbers to each side do it knows when to activate what is on each side of the detent. The down side is il-2 reads those as the button pushes and does not see the axis.

Is there anyway to make it not recognize those button pushes or to manually assign it the axis?

Does it show with the correct joystick axis ID, my warthog throttle shows as yoy0_axis_t

you can check ID numbers here: .......\IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles\data\input  ... devices.txt

 

mine reads:

you can change the numbers here, my throttle start with 0

also check usb game controllers in windows to see if it works

thank you for the reply. it shows the correct device but button pushes not an axis.
Your post gives me an idea to try.
Also came up with another idea. 

will update once I have tried my ides.

I found the answer...
in case anyone else runs into this 

 

you have to switch to the black detent holder as it automatically programmed to have no detents on it.
