alphagamer1981 Posted March 20 Posted March 20 (edited) So I'm doing the Normandy career as a spitfire pilot and the missions are very boring, slow and dead. It is just a mix of escorting bombers or patrolling the beach head while the ships do their thing and im not finding any enemy fighters show up at all. I am literally flying around in dead skies and not achieving any kills or seeing any combat. I tried setting it to enemy air superiority and numerous AAA and ground units but still nothing. Am i doing something wrong or should i change squadron or time period within the normandy missions? Edited March 20 by alphagamer1981
alphagamer1981 Posted March 20 Author Posted March 20 update, i changed squadrons and im now getting some action 1
Herodotus Posted March 22 Posted March 22 I had this too when flying a Spitfire for 484 Squadron, based in England on D-Day, and never saw anything (just a lot of water). You're right, though with Bomber Escort missions. They're the worst, as you babysit usually B-26 Mediums, and nothing ever happens. Those missions could be great, if a Staffell of BF-109's were lying in wait, or intercepted en route.
alphagamer1981 Posted March 22 Author Posted March 22 Glad im not the only one, I went though about 10 missions where it took turns being escorts to beach patrols and after 2 days i was like "I have not had a single dogfight, what is going on here?" But i guess i need to be careful what i wish for because after changing i got what i wanted and then shot down and my character is now sitting in a concentration camp, but I agree, the base career missions need to be updated to have a little more action even on the mundane missions
BaglanBoy Posted March 23 Posted March 23 Unfortunately this has always been the case and it seems more so when flying with the Luftwaffe ! I'm flying a career with JG 53 on the Moscow map, which started with combat in the first two missions, then the next four missions have been all escorts and the Soviet air force does not seem all that interested. This I suppose would be true to life. But with all that said, I'm still enjoying all aspects of this fantastic combat flight simulation. I take my hat off to the developers !!
artao Posted March 26 Posted March 26 I'm playing a WW1 campaign and had to skip thru five days before I got my first mission ..... Because I didn't own the planes they were sending up; they're from FC3 and I only had FC 1&2. Note "had." Situation rectified. But yeah, at first I was gettin like, "What the heck is this, just click thru days? Yay. How fun." ............ Cheap (as in shady) way to cajole people into buying more stuff. 😕
