Bodenplatte - JG 27 attacks Melsbroek (SP mission)

Reading the monography of Jagdgeschwader 27 (ISBN 3-87943-215-5), I came across their participation in Operation Bodenplatte. I wondered if this could be brought to life, more or less historical, using IL-2 GB's Mission Editor? Here is what I got (re. limitations read author's note in the Briefing).

 

Plane: Bf 109 K-4 (Battle of Bodenplatte)
Map: Rheinland-Winter 
Duration: 25 minutes

Download: Bodenplatte-JG27.zip

Installation: Unzip the files into the Main Folder of IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad (example for Steam: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad). Then you'll find under "Missions" an entry/folder named "Bodenplatte-JG27" containing all mission files under the title "Bodenplatte - JG 27 attacks Melsbroek".

A few remarks:
- Do not hide the entire GUI (H key). Doing so will disable all information you receive during flight.
- Mission is in English only - sorry!
- Performance: Was functional with my equipment (Intel i7-5820K, 16GB RAM, GeForce GTX 980/4MB).
- I'm open for corrections and/or suggestions. And above all, enjoy it!

I must say this mission is great! It is without a doubt that you have mastered the editor.

 

I think this is the best depiction of Operation Bodenplatte in the game to date! The airfield is alive; there is shooting, explosions, and planes everywhere without significant hits to FPS. It works perfect in vr!

Glad that you enjoyed the szenario, I've created. It was time-consuming and following Jaegermeister's ME advice (testing, testing!), I hopefully ironed out most bugs and "teased out" the best optimization.
