Bussard_x Posted March 8 Posted March 8 (edited) Currently playing single mission "Aftershocks", the flight with the 4 Bf109's and have not seen yet a single AI landing succesfully. They all crash in front of the airfield. It might be that they don't see the houses just in front of the Querqueville airfield, gonna do some more testing. Also when player is nr. 1 in the flight the nr. 2 is heading for home when approaching England without any damage. Edited March 8 by Bussard_x 1

I believe ATAG_Lenny is addressing all the issues with Ai aircraft, including aircraft crashing into the deck. Not ready yet but he is apparently being very successful in his endeavours 👍 1
SCG_Schneemann Posted March 10 Posted March 10 I am assuming this is with the Blitz version, where the runway is canted towards the city at the SW end. I have fixed that for the Beta builds with the runway running W-E so there shouldn't be any buildings in the way. 1

If the fix can't be done in the map, like SCG_Schneeman notes, often the wind direction just needs to be changed to incent the AI to land from a different direction or on a different runway, and problem solved. The important thing is when community members see this happen, bring it up here and a mission builder can likely address. Or if you have then knowledge, fix it in the FMB and tell Team Fusion how you fixed it.
SCG_Schneemann Posted March 26 Posted March 26 At least bring it up. It is a mix between historical airfield layouts to the best of our knowledge, versus game play. If I need to smooth a hill, or move some buildings, so be it. But I have to know where. I believe after the update we will be in a lot better shape as I have redone all the airfields. 2

After all, that's what the real pilots did? And is generally the reason for so many cross runway setups. Excusing the AI by blaming mission makers is a cop out. 1
SCG_Schneemann Posted March 26 Posted March 26 (edited) Not necessarily. Some of the airfields, especially fighter ones in France, were sort of temporary, commandeered from a farmer's field, and the unit took off with the prevailing winds at that time. Some of the airfields have you taking off into a hill or a group of trees, as it was always a headwind at that time, and everything is fine. If the AI try to land when the winds aren't in the right direction, they want to come in over the hill or trees, and smash into them. Historical? No. Game play? Yes. It's always a tradeoff. And we can't prevent people from trying to use bombers there instead of flying 6 hours from Germany or northern England to get there. Those have exceptionally shallow approaches.
