Pitomnik Ambience January 15, 1943

Ambience on the ground. The last day Pitomnik received flights. Morning hours 

January 15, 1943. Later that night the Soviets launched their attack via artillery and "rolling" air attacks.

Pitomnik was captured by the Soviets on January 17, 1943.

(Note the battle outside the base. They are less than 10 miles away).
