Spit_ Posted February 21 Posted February 21 (edited) The Battle of Britain 1940 was a Great Battle. It would be very popular in this part of the world Particularly since VR exists here Also the North African campaign must be a huge one not to have here? Great Battles is a different thing is it not? Tongue firmly in cheek Just saying..... Edited April 2 by Spit_ 2
Sandinourcoffee6 Posted February 21 Posted February 21 Cliffs of Dover covers these two battles very well, also a couple of very basic mods in the mods section cover these for great battles
jammy22 Posted February 24 Posted February 24 I would definitely like to see some more British content!
Enceladus828 Posted February 24 Posted February 24 If there is a Battle of Britain installment in the Korea engine then I’d like to see a flyable Wellington, BR.20M, G.50, CR.42, Defiant and Do-17 as well. I really don’t want to jump back to the Dover series just to fly a plane that is not in the 1CGS version. 2
357th_KW Posted February 25 Posted February 25 Just adding a Spitfire Mk I/II and a Hurricane Mk I collector to GB would be amazing. Particularly if the desired planeset for Karelia can be delivered, then we’d have a pretty decent Blitzkrieg set as well: Luftwaffe: Bf109E-4, Bf109E-7, Bf110E (very similar to the earlier C, good stand-in), He-111H, Ju-87, Ju-88A, Ju-52 The weakest point here is probably the Ju87, which is a much later model, and no Do17 or Hs123, but overall pretty good. Allies: Fokker D.XXI - This would give The Netherlands a presence in an early Blitzkrieg scenario. Hawk 75 - A good choice for France - obviously more would be better, but this was one of their main fighters. Hurricane I - the II we have has a two speed supercharger and significantly better performance, so you really want a Mk I, and it was used by Belgium and the VVS as well Spitfire Mk I/II - these two are basically identical aside from an upgraded engine and so could be made into one. This would be a huge improvement from what we have now, as the Mk Vb massively outperforms the 109E and has cannons in all configs in the game. The Mk II soldiered on through much of 1941 in the battles over the Channel. Blenheim - This would be the cherry on top, give the RAF an early war bomber, that also saw use during the Circus raids of 1941. This would be incredible! You could do Phoney War/Sitzkrieg type skirmishes on the Western Front map over Sedan/Thionville/Trier and on a cloudy day, you’d never even see no man’s land to the south and west. You could also do some Blitzkrieg stuff over Holland and Belgium on the Rhineland map, and then Dunkirk, Battle of Britain and Channel front scenarios on the Normandy map. 2 4

I bet the BoB in this or the next engine would sell big time. I know it’s been done to death but it’s a classic. I would have to agree with you, at least in the next series. Hopefully after they are done with the Pacific they could do a module about the Battle of Britain. Edited March 23 by Jackfraser24
Sandmarken Posted March 25 Posted March 25 We have enough assets to make a believable 1941-1942 theme. If someone made a scripted campaign around Dieppe, that would be great. PWCG already covers the timeframe as well. It's a good stand-in for the BoB feeling, if you ask me! 1
357th_KW Posted March 26 Posted March 26 1941-43 Channel works really nicely with the stuff we have. I'd love to see BoB in IL2-:GB, but we really need some additional planes to do it justice - subbing the Spit V and Hurri II really changes the matchup against the 109E.

I would have loved to have seen a Battle of Britain module for Great Battles but alas, it wasn't meant to be. But I am strongly hoping for a Battle of Britain module in IL-2 Series sometime after Korea and the Pacific. That will be years away but I think with this new generation of IL-2 having a much better flight and damage model it will be worth the wait. I think it would be awesome to fly iconic versions of the Hurricane (Mk.I) and Spitfire (Mk.I and II) as well as the Bf-109 (E-3 and E-4) and the Ju-87 (B-2). I can wait because I know It's got to happen sometime. Edited April 4 by Jackfraser24 1
