Nice pictures of the new GUI. It's rather hard to make this topic interesting, since a lot of this work enables things that are yet to come to fruition.

For example, the ability to create custom overlays to the overview map could bring a lot of life to campaigns, but if that is done, we would praise the campaign, not so much the hard work to allow that functionality.

It is pretty neat. Nice to see these long term improvements.

I wonder if the new GUI will make it easier to do improved artillery spotting and photo-recon someday. I really appreciate having it at all - but the gameplay would be richer if one could provide more exact corrections, design the fire-mission (as was commonly done by pilots in some airforces), selecting the number of rounds and type of artillery etc.

Anyway, great news for the campaign generator, for custom campaigns and potentially even for multiplayer! Should set a new standard!

Any word yet if the stutter from the old GUI is gone?

No mention of stutter - but they did mention they are using C++ and that the new UI loads in a couple of seconds (many times faster than the current game loading time).
