Aurosa Posted February 13 Posted February 13 (edited) I have just finished the Moscow campaign, received the medal, and removed the campaign. Ostmedaille in the game has the following issues: 1. It is being worn with the trifold ribbon, which was exclusively used by soldiers/civilians, basically anyone from Austria. 2. It is being worn rear/back/reverse side first. 3. Unlike all the other medals that we receive, which are in pristine/mint condition, this one seems like the collector's item, that has been in someone's possession for xx years, lacks silver finish, below is longer explanation. Medal itself was made out of zinc, and zinc is not a good material for anything to look good, and last long. I don't have any links on that matter, but zinc medals "fade" over time, as all the coating gets absorbed, leaving only the grey color, of course, as always there are exceptions, depending on how the items were stored, including the material itself. https://austria-forum.org/af/AustriaWiki/Dreiecksband Here is a good source, and a short explanation, but in German. Translation into English. Triangular band. The wearable awards, medals and decorations of the Austro-Hungarian Dual Monarchy were worn on a triangular ribbon. This tradition was also passed on to the Austrian Federal Army and other emergency organizations, such as the volunteer fire brigade. The medal ribbon is folded into a triangle, fitted with a hook and eyelet and sewn on the back. The medal is then hooked onto the hook and the hook is threaded through the eyelet into the medal ribbon. This special form of medal ribbon has also been adopted in some of Austria's neighbouring countries, such as Bulgaria, Romania, Slovakia, Serbia and the Independent State of Croatia . Even for orders that otherwise have a normal ribbon, there can be an appropriate triangular ribbon. This is the case with German orders, for example, since Austria-Hungary and Germany were allies in both world wars. It also happened that a member of the Austro-Hungarian armed forces or the Hungarian Wehrmacht (Honvéd) was awarded a German order and then wore it on a triangular ribbon in line with his own orders. Even today, awards in Austria and Hungary are still worn on a triangular ribbon. Spoiler Edited February 20 by Aurosa
