Good day

I'm new to VR and IL2.
I have picked up on the Quest 3

From what I have been reading, there are two camps for running IL2.
Open Composite and Steam VR

ADJUST SETTINGS IN

--------------- STEAM VR
1.  Quest Link  -  OculusSetup.exe
2.  IL2  In-game Graphics Settings
3.  NVIDIA Control Panel Settings
4.  SteamVR Settings

-------------- OPEN COMPOSITE
1.  Quest Link  -  OculusSetup.exe
2.  Open Composite
3.  OpenXR Toolkit
4.  Nvidia Profiler Inspector

Though at the moment it looks like Composite is no longer and option.

== FROM OpenXR Toolkit ==
AS OF 2024, SUPPORT FOR OPENXR TOOLKIT IS DISCONTINUED. THERE IS NO NEW DEVELOPMENT AND NO TECH SUPPORT OF ANY SORT. THE DEVELOPER DOES NOT RECOMMEND TO INSTALL/USE OPENXR TOOLKIT, AS IT IS KNOWN TO CAUSE ISSUES WITH MANY OF THE NEWER GAMES RELEASED IN SINCE 2024.

Are there any other options besides SteamVR?

Thanks every one, have a great day

OpenXR Toolkit works fine with IL-2. It's deprecated but still fully functional. I don't personally use it as I find it to be one more layer of complexity that I don't need.

OpenComposite works great and is the recommended way to run IL-2. At least it's what I recommend. :)

I suggest you watch this video and follow through step by step.

Nvidia Profile Inspector is not needed. In the above video he does make a change in the Nvidia Control Panel.

You're right  that OpenXR Toolkit is no longer supported, and OpenComposite is still a great option to run IL-2 with your Quest 3. If you're looking for alternatives to SteamVR, OpenComposite is currently the recommended method, and it works well with IL-2.

While OpenXR Toolkit may still function, its lack of support and compatibility issues with newer games make it less ideal. I’d suggest sticking with OpenComposite for now  it’s simpler and more reliable for IL-2.

OpenXRToolkit works fine and can be disabled on a per-game basis--there is literally zero reason to suggest not using it.

On a side note, does anyone know if the bug with the OpenComposite .dll files that crashed/didn't start IL-2 were ever resolved? (so that it can be updated again).

Outstanding   Thanks everyone.  I'll check out the video mentioned above here after dinner.  :)
