That about says it ; I have a curved screen while trying to play BoX. It seems like there must be a simple way of solving this?

Did you toggle ON the VR option in the launcher/settings? You're playing on the Oculus Desktop.

Launcher settings? I've probably screwed this up..Where do the Launcher Settings appear? Not the meta logo on the hand controllers?

The IL-2 Launcher. Settings. There is a checkbox to enable VR. If you're running Steam version I don't know, as I don't run that.

The VR option can also be toggled in the graphics settings in game.

Yes of course, but may I ask you about you screen resolution choices ? I’ve always gone for 1920x1080 almost from habit….

Yeah, something low. Supposedly, it doesn't matter all that much.

It doesn't. My one-eye monitor mirror is at 3840 x 2160 and VR runs the same regardless (previously had the monitor at potato in a window, thinking it would help VR).

Do you have SteamVR or OpenComposite installed and enabled.

How To Use Hand Tracking With the Oculus Quest 2

This still happens occasionally and I have no idea, now, why? It occurs with OpenComposte started and just after I hit "Link".I get a curved menu/apps screenAND a curved floating "control panel"below it, that at least at this point I can't get ride of .I can "un-link" and get out of Oculus entirely , restart everything and then I can startBoX from a simple apps/menu screen and all is well: Game play begins...There must be a simple solution or setting that I am ignorant of?

Let one just say upfront that one doesn't use VR because one faffs about a lot and the inordinate expense is rather vulgar. That said, one has viewed FC digital video's that employ the VR application, and the menu images are often curved. Interestingly, the in-game images are uncurved, that is to say flat, or should I say 3D. But not curved if you get one's drift. So is your experience, Blitzen, not that abnormal? In other words, perhaps it's quite common and persons don't really care so long as the in-game view is acceptable.

Of course one may be wrong having, as one said, no VR experience. But then, one is often wrong regardless. It is merely an observation.

One could say that, but one would be wrong and indeed one's perception without having first-hand experience would be wildly off the mark. That which one observes as flat in the videos on screen is actually all around the viewport in VR and that which is curved appears as a floating layer in front of one's view. This however is not what Blitzen, the other one, is referring to.

Ah, one sees. That is to say, one grasps it. Thank you for one's explanation.

You know you can actually set a curvature on the big map and menu's in both VR and flat screen via the settings configuration file.  You can also make the area it occupies much smaller.  Been doing that for years, map fits nicely inside a fighter sized cockpit and the text and controls hints are way less obstructive on the views.  If your not careful you can make it all small as a postage stamp.

I can't find a "settings" config. There is the "Startup" config but I don't see anything in that to allow map configuration. Can you please give more detail? :)

Take a look at these lines in the "startup.cfg" file :

or_hud_rad =
or_hud_size =
