Mulbin Posted January 30 Posted January 30 So I spent a while trying to work out which key binding flipped the little rear sight up on the DH2's Lewis gun... only to discover you have to select the feature pre-mission as a "modification" and it bafflingly adds 1kg to your plane. Even though it's always there and a standard, normal part of the lewis gun that you just flip up when you need to aim. What next, and extra 2kg if you want to use the trigger on your Vickers? 🤣
czech693 Posted February 1 Posted February 1 Actually, that's the sight as used by the ground pounder, who can rest his check on the buttstock and look through it. It's too small to sight through when you are sitting a foot or so behind it. So, by leaving it as an option you can leave it behind. Look at the size of the ring on a ring and bead sight. I think the idea is use the front sight and barrel to aim.
Mulbin Posted February 1 Author Posted February 1 That's fair enough... but still doesn't justify the magic 1kg appearing when you rotate a small piece of metal. Neither does a KG for a cockpit light either to be honest... If I'm using up a kilo for a sight at least give us an aldis.
czech693 Posted February 1 Posted February 1 Well, I think 1 kg is the minimum weight in the system. Here's some steel brackets I had made for my collective and together they weigh 0.91 kg. So the sight and it's mounting bracket that attaches it to the top of the gun could have weighed that much.
