Hello!

I have IL2 BOS, along with BOB, BOK, BOM & some other DLC on steam. Due to life I had to step away from my sim pit for a bit and am getting back into the swing of things. I noticed that we have a new game coming out (super cool and excited for it), and I was wondering what the means for future Stalingrad playability? Specifically sign in/servers? I believe this game requires me to login to play? If so, what's the plan for the servers going forward, and what happens when they eventually get shut down? (I.E. which game modes get shut down with servers?).

I ask because I'm eyeing Normandy, but don't want to lay the money out for it if future access is not guaranteed. I don't need online multiplayer of course, but I'd hate to purchase it and lose access to my single play stuff.

Thanks!

There are no plans at all to shut down access to the game.

Also there is still new content scheduled to be released for BoN, so you certainly aren't getting it past it's life span.

I think it is a valid question these days to ask, if the worst was to happen and the servers have to shut down for what ever reason, will the Devs be able to turn off the always online aspects and turn the game over to the community.

I understand that it's not in any plan that this could happen at the moment but it is reassuring to know that this would be done.

To give you some peace of mind, you can still play the game without Internet. If you disable your Internet connection, double click the IL-2.exe and you can select Offline mode. You will not have multiplayer or Career options, but can still play otherwise.

That is the point though. If for example, hypothetically, il2 became unavailable in certain geographic regions tomorrow for some reason, would the Devs be able to unlock career and then let us host our own MP servers?

Just puting it out there.

No, they can’t.  It depends on the master server for online and career.  If that is shut down for some reason you will only have access to the offline mode.

With PWCG you should then still be able to play a career.

I’m bald and retired (so very tanned).  I guess not much changes for me.

Well the EMP wave will take care of the circuits, no games, no KINDLE, no streaming movies, no online porn....

I survived the early 1960's ...so can you.

This is what I've been leaning on, but I figured it was worth an ask. If the game calls home every so often, i don't want to be stuck with a brick. I still pull out super old games and play them every now and then.

That said, I'm not getting my F4U for this, so I'll for sure be following along to the next series regardless. Just feel better known I can still access my content.
