I think it's interesting that the historical prop opponents to the B-29 struggled against it. That could make an interesting twist on gameplay instead of bombers usually just being free kills you can sleepwalk through killing.

I'd be totally fine with a A-26/B-26 that only had the periscope modelled for the gunner. I think all of the firepower available to the pilot could keep players quite busy without needing to spend much time with the defensive guns.

Alternatively, many A-26/B-26 in Korea had the ventral turret removed - and some had the dorsal turret removed also (having no defensive guns) - so that is also an option.

I wonder if anyone else agrees with me on this?

I think I'd do more damage in a corsair or skyraider than the A-26.

We'll have the Yak-9P and La-11 - so we could definitely create such scenarios. If one is willing to overlook all of the differences between the B-29 and the Tu-4 (10x23mm cannon - yikes!) then one could also fly intercepts in the P-80 or any other NATO aircraft that was still in service in the 1940s-1950s.

The A-26 has quite a bit more firepower than the Corsair - fourteen (or more) fixed forward firing 0.50 cal machine guns, fourteen HVAR, plus as substantial internal bomb bay. The Skyraider comparison it is a bit more ambiguous. but a Korean era variant probably has less firepower than the A-26/B-26.

10 23mms!! You can't talk to me like that, I'll get aroused .

If you're only looking at raw firepower the A-26 wins, but if you look at other factors like survivability, or speed it can make a full run, I think a corsair could potentially be more productive overall over multiple flights.

Flyable B29 = 6 fighters ="very expensive"

My take away.

I really hope we will get the A-26/B-26, even if it's just AI at first. La-11 pilots will need something to shot down and the A-26/B-26 was their main target during night missions.

It is nice to have appropriate AI aircraft. It is also a reason why I hope they'll make an AI Fairey Firefly if they make the Sea Fury - a significant task for Sea Furies was escorting Fireflies during their attacks and the deck of a British Carrier would look wrong without a mix of the two aircraft (at least a few static examples parked on the deck).
