Mysticpuma Posted January 21 Posted January 21 One feature I'd really love to see, is trk recording start automatically when a flight launches. Then, when quitting the flight, you automatically get taken back to the screen (which already happens ) where you can stop the recording. If you don't do this, the trk file would automatically be deleted. Currently, each flight needs the player to manually start the recording (even with the quick key now), and it can be guaranteed, the one mission where all the great stuff happens, you'll have forgotten to press the record option. IL2:1946 used to do this, and as mentioned, if you didn't save the trk file it was automatically deleted. Is there a way to just have trk files auto record from the start of a flight/mission, it's then up to the player to decide whether to save or discard the trk file at the end of the flight? 3
FTC_Rostic Posted January 21 Posted January 21 Your proposal sounds over complicated to me. But I like idea in general! I also would like to have tracks recorded automatically like it happens in DCS. Simple checkbox to force to do it always or never will be enough for me. 2
Mysticpuma Posted January 21 Author Posted January 21 (edited) Or, more simply (like your suggestion). Tick box on the controls screen, "Record each flight". Then once you quit from the flight, a button to "Save trk file". Click "Yes", it takes you to the "save file as" option so you can rename it and save it where you like. Click "No", file is gone. TempestV Posted January 21 Posted January 21 Put another way. Have START RECORDING enabled when you start in game. This selection could be in GAME OPTIONS
Volant_Eagle Posted January 22 Posted January 22 This would've been great to have this morning. While flying the Bf 110 I had both my rudder an elevator disabled by AA in London after a bomb run. Made it all the way back using elevator trim and landed where I had departed from at Caffiers. It was right on the centerline too (though it was a bit firm and bouncy). Of coarse it wasn't until I was shutting the engines down that I even thought about recording it. Any of the methods already described for implementing this feature would be awesome in my opinion. I imagine it would also be a rather simple feature to add (at least in comparison to many of the other features we ask for). I can't even remember how many face-palm moments this would have prevented for me. Having the keybind to start recording definitely should be easy enough, but there are those of us who can fly straight and level all the way from London to France without even once thinking to press it. 3

Just this. A summary of why auto recording would be so useful. 1

I also don't mind using the key binding. Tracks don't really work with lots of stuff going on for me anyway so I rarely use this in CLOD.
