Type of flight formation in Mission Editor

In the Mission Editor, you can only assign a flight formation in the ‘Group properties’ tab.
It is not possible to do this in the ‘Navigation point’ tab.

In other words, you cannot change the formation during the flight.

It would be nice if we could change the type of formation during the flight !

What do you think?

I like it. This would be cool to have.

It might be a little tricky programming the AI to do this without crashing into each other though. Especially since they already crash into each other for no reason in level flight.... or nose dive straight into the ocean since his wingman is doing that because you shot him down, and so that's what he's going to do too.

I'd much rather see effort put towards fixing the current AI issues rather than add new ones, but this is a good idea for a new feature.

Hello @Mistralfred901, if you would like to change the formation during flight, you can do so using the FMB script (C-Sharp). It is even possible to script an RPAS ...

Can't you do that with a complex trigger? you can on a plane entered address a formation MCU.

Anything that makes single player is a bonus for me 👌

Maybe I'm not understanding this question, but if you're the flight leader, You can change the formation of your flight at will in the commands menu.

If it's an AI flight, you could assign a new formation MCU at every waypoint, no!

It's an acronym for "Mission Control Unit". In the mission builder, the MCU category is for mission logic like waypoints and triggers among others.

You're welcome. It's all in the IL-2GB mission editor and multiplayer manual.
