Is it currently possible to run IL2 without anything Steam on the pc?

Does Open Composite still work? OpenXR? I really don't want to reinstall anything Steam on my PC but my vague impression is that OC no longer works nicely.

All done, Chat-GPT to the rescue. It even told me to avoid the later iterations of OC. Got it completely wrong about installing it though, said I would need to choose "selective" install, which would provide the api to install manually. None of that happened and the 'global' install didn't mess up DCS.

After some tinkering in settings I have a pretty solid 90fps with zero stutter.
