Why no American backgrounds for French and RFC squadrons in career mode?

It's a minor quibble, obviously, but it seems like there should be American backgrounds available in career mode for French and British squadrons, pre-1918. Because it wasn't uncommon for Americans to enlist in those services to fight in the war. Weirdly, the game even lets you join the Escadrille Americaine, but only offers the standard French/European backgrounds for your pilot.
