There are a lot of other factors that determine what developers produce (including available reference materials, data regarding past sales, available resources and competing priorities). The purpose of this thread is to imagine what a module might be like, share, and learn about history as a result. - I will seek to maintain and edit the first two posts. kraut1 Posted January 3 Posted January 3 (edited) Here my proposal of a "small" Kurland Pocket 44/45 Module for IL-2 Great Battles. -My main intention is to propose a compact Module, that could be implemented with the limited resources available for IL-2 GB. -with the current existing IL-2 GB technology the Eastern Front Mod Kurland can be realized. -The proposed Map Area has a limited size and contains only 1 medium to big sized Town Riga (1945 ca.300000 inhabitants) and some small/medium towns. -For IL2-GB is urgently a "End War Eastern Front Module" required, that enables the Russian Pilots to end their Pilot Career -Only few new planes are required, with the Odessa planes Yak3 and La7 it is already possible to generate fly realistic missions -Many short / medium distance missions without endless cruise flights. -Note: see information about currently available Kurland Pocket Mod, Mission Generator and Camapaign at the end of this post Map: Aircraft: Germany: FW190A6 FW190A8 / F8 FW190A9 (new) BF109-G6 late as fighter / reconnaissance BF109G14 fighter / reconnaissance FW189 reconnaissance (new) Russia / USSR: -in general: most of the existing 1942/43 russian planes were used in Kurland: https://airwarpublications.com/a-beginners-guide-to-the-soviet-air-force-over-courland/ +Yak3 (Odessa) +La7 (Odessa) +IL-4: a great Multi Purpose Bomber, bigger than the Pe2, it was successfully used during the whole Eastern Front 41-45 Air War and with early and late armament configurations it could be used for all available eastern front Modules. Historical interest: General Historical Information: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Courland_Pocket https://ludwigheinrichdyck.wordpress.com/2019/12/08/life-and-death-struggle-for-the-courland-bridgehead/ For the proposed "compact" Kurland Pocket 44/45 Module I would propose the time range from 16. October 1944 to 08. May 1945. The german Heeresgruppe Nord was attacked beween October 44 and the End of the War in 6 battles by the Red Army and managed to hold their lines and the 2 importent harbours of Liepaja and Ventspils until the end of the war. -Fronts were comparable static. -Attacks and Counter Attacks with the most advanced Eastern Front Tanks (IS-2 and T34-85 required / I assume we will get at least one of them with Odessa) -Maritime Actions: Artillery Support by German Cruisers / Destroyers, German Supply / Evacuation Convoys, attacked by Soviet Submarines, Torpedo Boats and Planes. Historical Mission Types: -Intercept missions -Scramble Airfield defensive missions -Escort missions -Anti Ship missions -Artillery spotting missions (german and russian) -with existing technology -Naval Artillery spotting missions (german) -with existing technology -Bombing Missions (on Ports, Fuel Dumps, Ammo Dumps) -Close Air Support missions during the running battles -Interdiction Missions against supplay columns, Air fields, Head Quarters Available for IL-2 GB for evaluation / discussion / testing of Kurland Pocket 44/45: Minimum Required IL-2 B.o.Bodenplatte + russian collector planes or BoK depending on the planes to be flown. -La7 "simulated" by La5FN with improved AI settings -Yak3 "simulated" by Yak1s127 with improved AI settings Map-Mod + Mission Generator + Mission Packs: https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/89214-kurland-kurzeme-194445-mod-v03-released-22092024/ JG54 Campaign WIP ca.65% / 58 Missions released: https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/89556-jg54-courland-pocket-fw190-a8-kurland-kessel-1945-campaign-beta-030125-58-missions/ Edited January 3 by kraut1 4 1
Marque Posted January 4 Posted January 4 I support! Il-4 is needed for all created maps and for all stages and years of the 2nd World War! The absence of this bomber is a huge flaw! 1 1
