EDIT: updated skin file to V2, realised I had typed serial number incorrectly. Version 2 file in link below.

G'day all,

skin depicting a Sopwith Scout (Pup) flown by 2/Lt. Gordon ‘Bill’ Taylor serial number 7309. 66 Squadron RFC 1917. as depicted on the cover of the book written by Taylor in 1968. "Sopwith Scout 7309" which is a great read.

The top wing cut out is achieved with an Alpha channel edit.

Link to skin for those who would like to try it. the file is JSGME ready.

G'Day Manfred,

I created a basic template of my own using the base game skins to get a blank canvas. I then added weathering details etc as required.

regards Rob.

Thanks Mate,

I'm lucky enough to have a 1st edition copy as well, I really like that it gives a lot of detail of the daily life of the crews both air and ground.

I see your in Maryborough, is that Vicotria or QLD? if Victoria, then I live just down the road...

Sydney born and bred but retired to QLD and bought a house there. Cheap as chips. Just before Covid hit bigtime. The cost of housing is outrageous these days worldwide, so I was lucky.

I have a first edition too, I think. 1968. Cover below. Got it from Abebooks many years ago who are/were based in Melbourne. Dunno if they're still around? Anyway, in the intro Taylor talks about lazy days in Pittwater (Sydney) and sailing to Lion Island as a boy. I did the same in the 60's with my grandfather who served in France during WW1. And so, my love of WW1 began. It's in the blood.

Yep thats a first addition. I was lucky and found mine in a small secondhand books store in country Victoria about 20 years ago for $10 I couldn't get my money out fast enough.

Maryborough, its a lovely spot for sure. My inlaws are in Gympie. We are headed up that way in April, I hope to get to Maryborough to go to the Military Museum whilst up there.

WWI interest for me started with building a Sopwith Triplane model with my father when I was about 5yrs old, I have been hooked ever since.
