MadDad Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 The client PC's have serious LAG after playing multiplayer on LAN for a while. How can I resolve this? All the clients have 32gb's ram.
FTC_Rostic Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 Can you provide more details? Original post not making any sense to me.
MadDad Posted December 31, 2024 Author Posted December 31, 2024 (edited) When we start playing multiplayer with 10 people on the LAN every thing runs smoothly, but after about an hour there is a lot of lag. It's kinda like all the aircraft that get shot down during play are still there in the scenario using up resources. You can select an airplane that has been shot down because it's still there, unlike IL2 1946 where the downed aircraft is completely gone after "Refly." Edited December 31, 2024 by MadDad

Shot down planes not despawning will really slow a server down. We've see this in some established servers where the FPS rate in the vicinity of a crashed plane grinds to a crawl. Sometimes the planes are underwater and not visible but you find them by cycling through external views. You'll want to look into a despawn script, the ATAG forum would be the best place to find this information. In the short term you could try jumping into the problem plane with aircraft switching and jumping back out. If I remember correctly that's been said to despawn the planes faster. FTC_Rostic Posted January 4 Posted January 4 (edited) Well, for dogfight servers, mission author should write a script that will remove aircrafts from mission. Though, game automatically destroy damaged aircrafts after 10 minutes and this is hardcoded. Though, if player left intact aircraft, AI will take control over it. Another issue could be when server was started through in game menu Local Server. That one has very bad performance. I created mission with 216 AI in the air and local server worked very bad. But when I started mission in dedicated server app on my PC and then connected to it from same my PC I had much better performance in game. By the way, in that mission script was not removing damaged aircrafts crash landed outside active airfields and AI controlled aircrafts successfully landed. By the end of mission about 100 aircrafts were parked at home airfields. Players reported two freezes about 2 hours after mission started. Edited January 4 by FTC_Rostic
FTC_Rostic Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Though having 216 aircrafts from mission start plus about 60 players connected was pretty smooth during first hour. But, getting freezes closer to the end of missions with just few players left and definitely less survived AI is a strange thing.
batmacumba Posted January 4 Posted January 4 This could be a memory leak. If you get the chance, please check the memory usage of the process in the beginning of the mission and by the end of it. 👍
MadDad Posted January 8 Author Posted January 8 Thanks for responding y'all! I prefer using BOS for LAN dogfights since I don't have this problem, but BOS doesn't have multiplayer maps to choose from.
