Extreme problem with Steam and il2sturmovik.com account! (Solved!)

Hello, I have to warn everyone here not to buy the game through Steam!

The following problem!

As a founder, I bought the game in July 2013 through il2sturmovik.com, a total of 8 modules. The game was released on Steam with version 3.005. I linked the accounts together! Back then I needed Steam to play in VR with the HTC Vive!

Now I've started again with the Quest 3 in 2024! Out of routine and ignorance, I bought another 13 modules from Steam.

Now I've installed Open Composite and Open XR and can start the game with 8 modules! The 13 modules from Steam are missing!!

According to support, it is not possible to link the 13 modules on Steam with il2sturmovik.com! The 8 modules that I bought on il2sturmovik.com are linked to the Steam account. However, they are not displayed on the Steam account!

Now I thought, OK! I'll support the developers and buy the missing modules again!

That is also not possible!

The website il2sturmovik.com recognizes that I have the 13 modules on Steam and does not allow me to buy them again!

Conclusion!
I can only play 8 modules with Open Composite and Open XR!

I can play all 21 modules in Steam without Open Composite and Open XR!
Although I have dutifully paid for everything, the support does not want to help me and does not link the Steam modules to il2sturmovik.com.

Greetings!
Thanks for the feedback.
If you have purchased something on steam, it is impossible to purchase it on our website because you already have it on steam!

Seriously now! I have never experienced anything like this!
What kind of deal is going on between il2sturmovik.com and Steam?

Is there anyone here who has the same problem? Is there a solution?

My tip! DO NOT BUY anything on Steam.

It seems to be too late for me now!

Thank you very much!

I tried it!

I have permanently removed Flying Circus 2 from my Steam account! This means that I no longer own it on Steam!

Then I went to il2.sturmovik.com and after waiting about 5 minutes I was able to buy it for myself!

Now you have received the money twice! This is another way to make money!

I would like to point out that this must be a warning for everyone on your site! A player who only uses Steam doesn't find out about this! He buys it on Steam and then looks stupid!

There is a warning that it is not a Steam product, but NOT that it is impossible to switch from Steam to your il2.sturmovik.com account!

I seem to have solved it!!!!

Before it was like this:

All 21 modules on Steam and only 8 on the il2.sturmovik.com login!

The start with open xr and open composite only had 8 modules!

After I removed Flying Circus 2 from Steam and bought it again on il2.sturmovik.com, I logged in again with open xr and open composite! There were 2 options available...One with a bold green background and one with grey Steam only.

I chose the bold green login button! I did that yesterday too!

Now all the modules are there, with open xr and open composite!

The second time I tried to log in, the login page was no longer displayed. I was immediately in the game with all the modules!

It is unclear whether it was the deletion and repurchase of a module or whether something else was changed!

IN ANY CASE, IT WORKS NOW!

Have you ever considered going into opera? You have a certain flair for the dramatic.

"Das Feuer, das mich verbrennt, rein'ge vom Fluche den Steam! Ihr in der Fluth löset ihn auf, und lauter bewahrt die lichte Modules, die Euch zum Unheil geraubten!" [Grasping a torch from a guard just as the music swells up] "Fliegt heim, ihr Messerschmitts! Raun't es eurem Herren, was hier am Ostfront ihr gehört! An Steam's Felsen fahrt vorbei! Der dort noch lodert, weiset die Heinkel nach Moskau! Denn der Götter Ende dämmert nun auf." [Throwing the torch on the pyre just as the music reaches crescendo] "So werf' ich den Brand in 1CGS's prangende Spiel."

Of course it should be impossible to buy it since you already have it. There is no need to buy things twice, and it doesn't make any sense to do so.

Support did want to help you; they tried to stop you from wasting your money by unnecessarily buying IL2 again.

It's always been the case that you need to start IL2 from Steam if you bought it there, since 1CGS doesn't have access to your steam purchases.

Of course not, since everything you buy here is playable in the Steam version. It doesn't matter what else you may or may not have bought on Steam. It makes no sense whatsoever to put up a warning for something that doesn't apply.

Well yes of course they are; you started IL2 directly from the .exe. If you have the Steam version, you need to start from Steam.

Wrong conclusion.

Finally, hidden within 27 lines of drama, we find just 2 sentences that describe the core issue. It seems you didn't succeed in getting your Steam game to work with OpenComposite/OpenXR. This is perfectly possible; I do it myself. It's as simple as following the installation instructions on https://gitlab.com/znixian/OpenOVR/-/tree/openxr/.

Now if instead of going on a tirade against the game, how "they [do] not want to help" you and how you "have never experienced anything like this" while stating multiple falsehoods, you'd remained calm and patient while waiting an hour or so for people to see and respond to your post, you would have been able to get everything working without buying all those modules again. Ah well, it's your money, not mine 🤷‍♂️

A flying Dutchman? g😂g This is information for everyone! Your picking apart is unnecessary. Because you're always wiser afterwards! A new player who finds and buys the game on Steam doesn't know that! I just bought a module for $19 and solved the problem myself. I hate waiting for others!😉
