Sayan Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 Gentlemen, good day. A couple of weeks ago I bought this beautiful plane, and I am enchanted by it. I started reading literature about it, and here's what confused me... Actually, the topic of the question is in the title of the topic. In the game, we have a load of 16 paratroopers. Although everywhere, in all reference data, 28 are indicated. I started creating colorings for it, and looking at the next version in the viewer, I looked "inside". There you can clearly see 28 seats. Tell me, please, maybe this topic has already been raised, what did the developers say about this decision? On the Russian-language forum, this is bypassed, and I did not find comments from the developers on this issue. Or maybe colleagues from the foreign community have historical materials about the real load of paratroopers in combat operations? Was it standard, 28 people, or were 16 used? With respect.
Aapje Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 I would guess that they reduced the number to save on CPU.

1CGS LukeFF Posted December 28, 2024 1CGS Posted December 28, 2024 18-22, per the USAF: https://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/Visit/Museum-Exhibits/Fact-Sheets/Display/Article/196271/douglas-c-47d-skytrain Quote A C-47 could carry 28 passengers, 18-22 fully equipped paratroopers, about 6,000 lbs. of cargo or 18 stretchers and three medical personnel. 1

[CPT]Crunch Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Because a combat drop is done with full kit, training drops aren't due to the increased injury rates with full kit. You just need to practice the jump in training, they did it the same way in a Herk and Starlifter, different seat belt hooks and weight calculations were used for the way the troopers were kitted for the mission. That caused seating capacity to change. The official configurations listed in these aircraft's TO's and handbooks also reflected it. Might not remember the exact numbers, been over 40 years, but a regular pax was around 175, training paratrooper 225, combat kit paratrooper 240.
