Meyham Posted December 23, 2024 Posted December 23, 2024 Hi, I have been trying to do this but it does not seem to work.. I have a group of 3 aircraft. Each aircraft 2 and 3 are linked to aircraft 1. and are set to activate the first waypoint when spawned.. I have all 3 set to inactive. . when I trigger the spawn they appear fine but will not follow the lead aircraft.. The lead does fine but the other 2 fly in circles which indicates they have lost the link to the lead aircraft.. If I instead dont spawn them .. but trigger an activate trigger it all works fine ,, they follow the lead as supposed to , and they all all fly to the activated waypoint.. What I want is a few bombers to be triggered to appear follow a bombing route then return to a point where they will be deleted and triggered to re spawn with new planes..when needed ,, Using activate and deactivate wont give me new planes if any were destroyed ,, I just cannot get the planes to follow the lead if I spawn them,, but will if I activate,, Any help on this would be greatly appreciated
Jaegermeister Posted December 24, 2024 Posted December 24, 2024 You would have to delete the first group and reactivate a new identical group
Meyham Posted December 24, 2024 Author Posted December 24, 2024 (edited) Thank you ! I will try that right now... Edit : Nope that does not work... I think it does the way you described it ,,to reactivate a new identical group.. which means I may have to put 10 or 20 unique groups to re activate ... as once you delete an aircraft you cannot ever reactivate it again. I just tried it and once the group was deleted it wont re activate.. so defeats the whole purpose of it ,, too bad really .. But I do appreciate your taking the time to help . AEthelraedUnraed Posted December 24, 2024 Posted December 24, 2024 Yeah, spawned aircraft don't follow their leader. This is known behaviour. Its a bit of a hassle, really, but it is what it is. 2 hours ago, Meyham said: once you delete an aircraft you cannot ever reactivate it again If you deactivate rather than delete them, you should be able to reactivate.
IckyATLAS Posted January 17 Posted January 17 The target links between objects have to be set during the design phase. There is no dynamic linking, that is create dependencies through Target or Object links during the game. This would have opened a lot of interesting possibilities in terms of reconfiguring units on the fly. Imagine an MCU to delete links and create links between two objects. That would be fantastic. When you spawn the leader of a plane group then you spawn the planes and not the links as these cannot be created dynamically. In this particular case the automatic link creation between spawned objects would have been normal to have. Same for convoys etc. The reason is that you have set the links in the Editor already so they have been already defined in advance.
