[CPT]Crunch Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Philippines landings isn't all that great a candidate due to a severe imbalance of air power, just weeks prior every Empire aircraft and pilot they could scrape up was thrown east smack dab into the Mariana's turkey shoot and put Japan's Philippine occupation region into a critical air power crisis. Battle of Samar and Leyte landings the empire managed to launch one reconnaissance Aichi which was promptly shot down right off the south Bohol beaches, and that was about the sum of their air efforts for the entire battle, north and south fleets air coverage zones. One of the biggest strategic mistakes during that phase of the war, never divide your forces. First they flushed their Air Forces in the region in a futile gesture they couldn't possibly win without Naval support, than what was left of their Navy was massacred because they withdrew premature due to lack of air coverage. If one wants to study how not to run a campaign this one is it. 2
