There are a lot of other factors that determine what developers produce (including available reference materials, data regarding past sales, available resources and competing priorities). The purpose of this thread is to imagine what a module might be like, share, and learn about history as a result.

Here my point of view concerning about a New Guinea Module:

General Note: If anyone is interested to test New Guinea:

There are currently already Papua New Guinea Modifications, Missions and a Campaign available, that are base on the Kuban Map and Japanese Planes are simulated by using Japanese Skins for German, Russian, Italian Planes. See links at the end of this post.

New Guinea is a huge Island and there was military action until the end of the war in 1945.

But in respect of a more or less balanced Air War the most interesting action was ca. between March 1942 and ca. spring 1944 in the Eastern Part called Papua New Guinea.

The Japanese Main Base for the advanve to Papua New Guinea was Rabaul in New Britain (captured in January 42).

To cover the most importent military actions 1942/43 the minimum map size (without the the Japanese Base Wewak) would be round about:

+P-39 frequently used for ground attacks during the Kokoda Track Campaign

A-20

B-25C/D (Strafer options)

Beaufighter

Beaufort?

Ki-45?

Historical interest:

-Japanese attack on Lae fro Rabaul: in March 1942

-Japanese bombing attacks on Port Moresby from Rabaul / Lae (distance 800km / 350km) from March 1942-January 1943

-US / Australian bombing attacks on Lae / Rabaul from Port Moresby (distance 350km / 800km) March 1942-1944

-Kokoda Track Campaign Japanese advance 1942 (US / Australian ground support missions)

-Battle of Milne Bay 1942

-Kokoda Track Campaign Australian Counter Offensive 1942

-Australian / US Attack on Buna / Gona 1943

-Battle of Wau 1943

-Battle of the Bismark Sea (Anti ship missions)

-US / Australian Offensive to Nassau Bay, Salamaua and Lae.

-Neutralization of Rabaul by Air Attacks

-Battle of Finschenhafen

-Technical Requirenments for flight simulation:

-Most Japanese Missions and many of the Allied Missions are long distance attacks:

Port Moresby - Lae = 350km

Port Moresby -Rabaul = 800km

For these missions, especially the missions from/ to Rabaul a new technology of time acceleration is required.

This means it will be a Module for the new Korea engine (if there a new time acceleration is available)
