Cracked Ice mod?

There is a cracked ice mod for the frozen water in the winter maps that I have from back in the day. It does not work anymore, has anyone updated that mod to work in the current version?

Was that Beebop's mod? I thought it still worked........does it throw up an error?

Not sure who made it, but it does not work on Moscow or Stalingrad map for me.

Can you attach your mod here? I'd like to compare it to what I have and also cross check it to the current game files. Perhaps the texture name changed in patches. I'll have to recheck my version, I mostly fly western front maps these days so it may have broken and I haven't noticed.

I'm always keeping an eye out for that fabulous Torpedo mod fix, one i really miss ...

I thought we fixed that one a while ago apart from the wake going invisible..........has something else broke?

Dunno, tested it last year, is there a new link? Thanks .. my latest MOD: Torpedo He111h6 latest OK.zip

Just tried it again, only works as bombs do ...

Sorry - can you clarify what you mean only works as bombs do?

Hi Sandmarken, you can load the modified bomb OK, see also picture above, ans display nicely in the plane choices setup screen at game start.

But they wont run submerged it seems until they hit a ship. Like in the good ole days.

I don't see a trail either. But dropping them from above straight down they behave like the original SC-1000 bombs do.

(before take off first run the engines full speed, short runway LoL) He11H6 Ship torpedoing v1a TEST.zip

The MOD, only renamed, same as above: Torpedo He111h6 latest NOT OK.zip

 

PS, ABOUT the modded sc-bomb_ger_sc1000.txt file.

According Rob the original torpedo was called ammunitionfornpc\npc_torpedo_53-38, in Graphics/ammo,

Now in 5.504b there are three other MGM files etc only there it seems: torpedo_21inch, torpedo_53-38 and torpedo_g7a_53.

 

Addressed in this mod is Torpedo_F5B.MGM, so that might be the error?

 

ADDED and the there was suddenly a game 5.505 update, so i'll have to get that running for further tests LoL.

Believe it was a custom MGM file by Lizlemon or Rob (no idea how they produced it) as the other ones are purely naval weapons and too long. The LT I A1 F5b was the standard German aerial torp for a big chunk of the war, they also did use the Italian F5w (which was better than the German torp) and later on a version of the Japanese Type 91 known as the LT 850.

Lol not sure who Sandmarken is but I'll answer anyway.

 

Ok well I tried the one I have and it appears to work as a torp (ie runs submerged) although there is no trail. I guess if you drop them down like a bomb and it actually hits a target other than water you'll get an explosion as the game will likely treat it like any other fused munition. Probably if you could alter a plane definition to use a stock torp the same would happen. AI just have no idea how to use the mod and will drop it like a bomb from height. If I get time, I may fiddle around to try to get the wake working but it's pretty busy this time of year.

Thanks, if i find something else i will let you know. Alas i am getting more into DCS. helicopters and Combined Arms vehicle stuff, also complex matter.

 

ADDED: this is probably the latest version i have, guess CountZero edited & compiled it, behaves the same acting like bombs only it seems.
