kraut1 Posted February 14 Posted February 14 Radio Navigation with selection of 3 semi historical beacons (Funkfeuer)
JG4_Deciman Posted February 15 Posted February 15 After posting my first reaction into the wrong topic now inside the 'correct' topic. Really nice work, indeed... BUT: The way the script works limits it to single player only. As I see, the script does nothing but set _all_ beacons to 'offline' and enable only the 'selected' beacon for a limited time. Really great for SP usage. But in a MP environment that would mean: Every player using that script would disable all but the 'selected' ndb for a short time. After that time all ndb's are disabled. In real the pilots could (and still can) set their navigation receivers to specific frequencies. I also know that the german side used this (with 2 different frequencies from 2 different positions) to provide a navigation system. And I also know (from real navigation when sailing boats) that, if you have 2 vectors to 2 known positions you are able to comfirm your own position almost perfectly! Right now the ndb's trigger a bit (0 or 1 - off or on) The game triggers another bit (0 or 1 - own or enemy) The game filters if 'own' or 'enemy' according to the players coalition (and ignores everything EXCEPT the players coalition) The game also calculates the 'closest own active' ndb and selects it. Why not let the player select _which_ ndb (frequency) to choose and hook on? More than 2 bits must be combined, so a byte (much more values possible) So that's my challenge for the devs... Make it possible to have - several ndb's with different frequencies - let the pilot select the frequency And please do not tell me that is impossble... Deci 2
