Avimimus Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 An exact release date isn't announced yet. It is expected to be released in 2025 if all goes well. Most of us expect the fall of 2025. 1 2
AEthelraedUnraed Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 I think they mentioned next summer somewhere?

I know they've mentioned 2025, but I don't remember exactly beyond that - hence my decision to be vague. With such complex projects it isn't unusual to have a bit of timeline slippage anyway - so I wouldn't be surprised if it takes until the fall. That said, they might do an early access release with four aircraft and have the rest come later? That is potentially an option if there aren't delays with the terrain tech (or other key technologies). 1
LuftManu Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 In a world of Early Acesses and unfinished products, I hope they release it when it's ready! So far, this has been the trend lately (with FC and collectors planes) and I love it. We have Great Battles (and will have after Korea release too) to fly in the meantime with some cool additions such as Odessa or the Chaika on the way in 2025? No need to rush. Kind regards, 2 1
[CPT]Crunch Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 Hope they can give us a rough estimate on overall game size for storage space planning some time soon. 1

If we can estimate with what we have, I bet the game will be around 50 gigs at release (And will grow each time we have a new theater).
FlyinCoffin Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 (edited) Besides I have to tell something. Will it be a hit or a flop? One scenario would be to difficult to dogfight with sabre and mig for the "customers". Or it would be a hit cause the inner core would be average flight simmers. I had difficulties it was somehow faster and the enemy plane was out of sight again and again. but thats A 3/4 year ago and I was flying for 4 weeks . dcs with the sabre and the mig-15. And the simulation of the aiming thing in the sabre was somehow wrong. But I dont know nothing about it. Iam just a guy "using" most time il2 gb. you can try and find difference in il2 and dcs . I will cause I purchasesd both. I didnt know about the plans of il2 korea back then. It just a not so known module of dcs the f-86 and the mig-15. And bum you have korea war dogfighting. Me thinks that there will be not much difficulties. A better aim thing in the sabre pls. I hope...somehow But I really hope that there will be a 2ww flight sim mighty and huge one day. with 4 engine bombers. and il2 doesnt move to il2 vietnam or maybe? Who knows what the future really is. Ok but I have enough missile evading. I dont like it. And thats why I will like il2 korea. But "maintain" il2 gb does the il2 even flew in korea? Lets give them time. And an early access game is imagineable to help to finance this. So Iam in. But I must be a hardcore fan. Or just an average? hmm Edited December 15, 2024 by FlyinCoffin

=MERCS=JenkemJunkie Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 Aiming can be harder due to the higher speeds, but most other aspects of a dogfight will be easier because the higher speeds lead to larger turn circles and turn times which gives you more time to think and adjust. When I tried jet dogfights in DCS (guns not missiles 🤮), even the knife fights felt like they were happening in slow motion, even though our speeds were higher than WWII dogfights. I hope we don't get early access, this is a high stakes release and I'd rather they take the time they need to release a polished game that leaves a good first impression, then release an EA build that may turn people off.
Avimimus Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 I personally find everything post-1942 to be harder to dogfight in... higher weights, higher wing-loadings... but I prefer complex spiralling fights with multiple (ineffective) gun passes over the use of energy tactic to ambush enemies with cannons. As for Il-2 Korea - there will be options for Piston engine dogfighting as well. We'll have at least three, and possibly more, piston engined fighters. The experience should be similar to BoBP but slightly higher performance (especially if they eventually add the La-11 or Sea Fury). With the high speeds, relatively larger turn circles and more challenging high angle-of-attack handling of these early jet fighters, I'm not to particularly optimistic I'll like dogfighting in them. But there will be plenty of ground attack to do, and there will be some pretty agile piston engined designs as well.
=MERCS=JenkemJunkie Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 It's all about relative performance, so it doesn't matter how thicc your plane is, as long as the other guy is in a similar enough plane. Hurricane vs Ju-88 may not be very fun for the Ju, but 2 Ju's dogfighting is very fun.
CAG_Sanders Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 It's ironic how painfully obvious it was they were doing Korea, but they kept it secret and said nothing for a long time. The pretense was that they would announce when it was "close" to being ready. Based on the Dev blogs it looks like they are not really close at all. Supposedly they are fresh with lots of new staff ans piles of cash, but my confidence that they will be launching a complete sim in 2025 is pretty low. But the silver lining for all of this, is that who ever they left in charge of GB is making fixes to the planes at a great clip unlike before.
1CGS LukeFF Posted December 18, 2024 1CGS Posted December 18, 2024 2025 is the planned date and there is nothing right now that would change that. 1 2 1 1
Avimimus Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 So... January 1st? 😄 😄 (I joke - I personally suspect Q4 or Q5). 1
YoYo Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 Q4 2025 is within reach and somehow I've been aiming there from the beginning (and I hope that it not will be any EA). However, I'm still waiting for information on what changes will be introduced in VR.
MajorMagee Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 25 June 25 would be the 75th Anniversary of the start of the war, and would make an excellent release date!

areyoupro13 Posted April 18 Posted April 18 Hi! - Will it release at the same time on steam, or we have to wait a bit there?. I wish I could buy it here but my account doesn't link...

JMax Posted April 24 Posted April 24 I am starting to enter the "I cant wait" phase, lol. Its looking so good.A tentative release date would be fun.😎 1

Jackfraser24 Posted April 26 Posted April 26 (edited) I think IL-2 Korea will be a hit once it’s released. The Korean War has been neglected for so long by combat flight simulation developers until now and the result is is that IL-2 will have very weak competition (I mean there is DCS but they don’t have a Korea map (as of now) or enough planes for players to create a decent scenario for themselves. There’s War Thunder but they are a multiplayer game that requires internet to play and requires you devoting 100s of hours to get to planes that were in Korea. So I think IL-2 Korea has very little direct competition). There are a huge number of WWII and even quite a lot of WWI era combat flight simulator games/modules out there already and I think we need to see something a little different for a change. But I know why WWI and WWII is done a lot, and I know the Pacific is next. Edited April 26 by Jackfraser24

I can't really decide which aircraft I am looking forwards to flying most. But if I had to choose I would go either the IL-10, La-11, MiG-15, Yak-9P or the F-51, F-80, F-86 or the F4U-4. You know what, this is hard! 3
